August Threads????

I've been away for 5 days (nice little visit with DD and her family), and am wondering if the sign up post for August Threads has appeared yet?

Anyway - I'd like to be in on it.......

I saw the sign-up for the squares, but I don't remember seeing the sign-up for the threads. I'm sure Nora will fill you in though.

Welcome back from your little visit with your daughter and her family. I'm sure you had a very nice time. :o) I hope things are better for you at home now than before you went away.... weather and things breaking down, I mean.

Anyway, nice to see you back on the newsgroup again! :o)

Thanks Gem - it's a beautiful town they've moved to - away from Kitchener which was hot and humid (and too large for her liking) to Alberta which was hot and dry and the town's population is around 13,000.

I hate to say it that we've had another "annoyance" - we were hit with a wild thunderstorm on Saturday night which included hail - some as big as golf balls. The hail dented the roof, hood and side panel of my DH's cute little truck, two cracks in the windshield and smashed the marker light (beside the headlight). We live in a mobile home and some of the siding was dented and some vents are broken. The frustrating thing will be dealing with two different insurances, and the $500 deductible on each one. Oh well - c'est la vie. Nothing much can be done about the weather, except to complain about it. The mosquitoes are absolutely insane right now.

Ahhh, relief from the humidity... that would be nice right about now. We did have a slight break in the heat part for a couple of nights though... but it's back again now along with even thicker humidity. :o/

Oh man, one thing after another huh? Good thing you got away for a short while anyway. Good luck with the insurance people... some of them can be a real hassle.

Oh and good luck with the mosquitoes too. Be careful they don't carry you off somewhere.

Hi Shelagh,

OMG, those hailstones did a lot of damage. I feel sorry for you with that kind of storm. Around our area, they have had some too, but not like that, they have had the strong winds instead. One homeowner lost ten trees that were over 200 years old, now he has about five left, one landed on top of his brand new car. It's been wild weather all over the world hasn't it?

Hugs,

Nora

Yikes Nora! Are you sure there wasn't a tornado nearby... to take out 10 trees like that? :o/

Hi Gem,

No, it was what they called straight line winds. We have had some strange storms this summer and the DH just said he hates to think what winter is going to be like, probably buried up to our you know what in snow.

Hugs,

Nora

Ahh, okay! One year we had such strong winds while having a storm that it uprooted a few trees and knocked over a few of the very old (thinner) headstones at the cemetery, and broke off many large branches from trees around town. Although no one ever said it, the cemetery definitely looked as though a tornado went through.

I certainly know what it's like to have that much snow! It takes forever for the laneway to get dug out enough to get out anywhere... then a few hours later it's filled in again, if not by more falling snow, then by heavy drifting.

- sitting by the fan at 8:12 AM, and heading out to the nearby city at noon for a few hours. I'm sure when I come home I will be hot enough to get in the pool to cool off.
