book copying

I ordered a book from Amazon and know one of you will be able to answer this question. I found a project I want to do in there but the book is expensive and I would like to keep it nice. Will a knitting chart in color-- this one is purple-- copy at a normal printer in black and white ? I would rather not write in the book. Barbie

There's nowhere local to make color copies?

Most copyright statements permit the purchaser to make a single copy for personal use. There are a few books on my shelf that I've duplicated wholesale because they are hard to find but quite handy to scribble in. By all means, copy your charts, put them in a sleeve protector, and leave your book safe at home.

Reply to the list as I do not publish an email address to USENET. This practice has cut my spam by more than 95%. Of course, I did have to abandon a perfectly good email account...

Yes and good point as it is the #2 reason I want a copy-- don't need to drag it in the car for long trips !

It should copy over in black and white. Try it, you'll only be out 10 cents if it doesn't. If it does, then you won't need to spend the extra money for a color copy.

If the copy comes out badly, there should still be enough there to be able to go over it with markers or colored pencils and make it clearer. You might even be able to match your yarns better. ;)
