Bride of News about Aunty O

I spoke to Ophelia this afternoon.

She has had her first physiotherapy session today. Apparently they like people with new knee knobs to get up and about on them as soon as possible. O still has a neural block on her sciatic nerve, so she couldn't get out of bed, but she underwent physio anyway. She's now feeling a little bit sore!

Nevertheless, she's raring to go and looking forward to coming out of hostiple as soon as possible. We don't have a forecast as to when that will happen as yet, but I certainly don't expect any decisions to be made before Monday.

Ophelia has asked me to tell you all how much she appreciates all the good wishes and messages that you have sent (everything posted here has been relayed to her!). She also said "Tell them that I'm touched, and that doesn't mean barmy!" That's our Ophelia! :-)

Hi Uncle Enzo,

That is wonderful news about Auntie O. They do the same thing here in the US, get you up and out of bed the next day if they can. I've had friends who have had the same thing done and they told me all about it.

Hugs,

Nora

I can imagine how sore she must be. They sure don't give patients a chance to rest at all after surgery. However, each day of physiotherapy will make her stronger and make the pain less... one hopes anyway! :o)

It's good that she has her spirits up and is determined to get going, that will definitely help her recovery.

LOL Well, being slightly "touched" myself, I don't see what's wrong with that. ;o)

Peace! Gem

Thanks for the report, keep the good news coming. As much as I like reading the news about Aunty O, I keep hoping you'll also tell us about your knitting or crocheting. ;-)

I'm afraid that's where I let the side down. I couldn't knit or crochet to save my life! However, I have been known to build model railways! :-)

My Gran was always heavily into knitting. As a kid I *never* had shop bought jumpers. In the mid 70s there was a fashion for tank-tops with outrageous colours. As they were fashionable, they were also expensive. Not for me though... My Gran loved to watch Western movies, especially ones with a good punch-up in the middle. She called them "Cowies" and she would knit while watching. The more exciting the film, the faster she would knit until you could almost see sparks coming from her needles. I swear that she could knit a whole tank top during the running time of "True Grit"! :-) Although my friends had to make do with the same tank-top for months, I had a new one virtually every week!

My Gran passed away nearly twenty years ago. I still have a number of her jumpers which I keep for sentimental reasons. Sadly they don't fit me any more (surprise! surprise!) which is a real shame as I bet they would still be as comfortable as ever!

That is good news. Great that she is doing so well. Good that she is doing physio already, before you know it she will be up and about.

Give her my love

Yes, they kept getting me up and about immediately after all my knee surgeries too. Ouchhhh. However, you heal faster because of the increased circulation, the exercise helps the fluids in the knee go away more quickly and you get more range of motion back in the long run. But still, it would be nice to have a few days off to recuperate before the physio! Marie- I wear the cats, the cats do not wear me.

LOL Having seen many cats draped around their owners shoulders, and/or across their knees, I can definitely believe that! ;o)

After seeing the amount of fur the year old long-haired kitten can leave on my clothes and caught in my other half's beard, I greatly resemble that comment. (Not forgetting the 5-yr old black and 14-yr old grey short-hairs, either!)

Ahh, well that being the reason for the play on Enzo's signature line, anyone seeing me when I wear dark clothing after being around Casper (the HUGE white one) would approve of me saying "I wear the dog, he does not wear me". Sometimes when he's in a VERY playful mood, or a little upset and wants to be near "Mama" that takes on another meaning as well, as he will be all over me because he doesn't know how big he really is. LOL
