Cooking with gas!

Or more accurately, spinning with electricity. I bought a kludged electrified spinning machine at a fiber festival on the weekend. DH rewired it for me and I now have a plying machine that requires no treadling and that holds upwards of 8oz of fiber: Ashford Jumbo spinning head, the motor from an old Elna sewing machine, and a rheostat.

Zoooooom!

If you do a LOT of spinning (which I do, in fits and starts) you want one. Scavenge the mother and flyer off an old wheel, mount it on a wooden plank and add a sewing machine motor.

I do admit that last night's plying adventure produced some...interesting...results. I'm going to run the hank through the plyer again today, as I thought I was getting a lot more twist than I really was, so it's a rather loosey-goosey yarn right now.

I have a new learning curve!

No zapping! DH is a licensed EE - he's licensed to shock himself, but they yank his license if he shocks other people! *hehehehe*
