Doll sweater finished!

Apr 09, 2007 20 Replies

Ok, call me proud. Call me nutz. Call me redundant.

I finally got the website squared away to show off my little 4-inch sweater! VP was kind enough to help me with the technical parts (I'd rather be knitting) and get 'er up there on the web.

It worked out to gauge but I am still concerned it will be too big for my SIL's dolls. I just mailed it off to her and requested feedback for future attempts.

Beading in as needed with a crochet hook was the "funnest" part of the project. Learned something new!

Ok now, I need constructive criticism here! I am very new to modifying patterns but would appreciate some ideas on how I could alter this sweater. Thanks everyone!

My opinion is that it is simply gorgeous, and if someone sent me one like that and it didn't fit a doll I already have, I would be going out to buy a doll that it *would* fit. ;o)

Oh jeez! Thank you so much! I guess we are our own harshest critics after all. :D

Wendy

That is so pretty Wendy...

...and the beading adds a real touch of glamour.

Bernadette

Well, hopefully, and it added just the bit of learning curve for me, as well.

Shelagh that is peculiar because it was working earlier

but when I went in just now to try to see if it was still working it came up with that error message. Could it be that Yahoo is either too busy or that the site is down for repair or updating at the moment?

Bernadette

Very nice! I haven't ventured into the beading thing yet. The beads add a lot to the sweater.

BB

I saw it at last! :) It was worth the wait - so sweet!

Never mind the dolly, display it as a piece of art: get some of those little wooden pegs and a piece of jute string and make a little clothes line on the wall for it I say.

VP

I can't link to it either :( Sounds beautiful.

Oh what a great idea! Ok, this seems to work:

Oh thank you all! I feel dorky when I hear about everyone else's amazing projects, so all your praise is giving me a confidence- builder!

Shelagh--What part of the url did you remove? How should I put it here so everyone can see it the FIRST time, next time, please?

Wendy :D

Here's the part of the link I used - I left off the photo number, and behold, up came the sweater. I double clicked on the small picture to get the large one.

noticed the numbers in the link that finally worked don't match yours. I'mshortening it to show only the numbers so they don't get broken when thepost shows up /294928804318743010/0

Your link:

I can highly recommend the Tinyurl for nice short links to pictures. Shelagh

If you have more pictures in your "My Knitting" album, could you make them public, so we could see them too?

If you're interested, I have albums of knitting pictures, one of some of my stash, and one for my shawls.... go here:

Thanks Shillelagh! Now I can see the lovely sweater.

Great job, Wendy. It's beautiful.

Hesira

I'll check that out. This can get so frustrating! Thanks! Wendy

Thank you so very much!

My SIL just wrote that she just got it in the mail. Here's her email to me:

The sweater arrived, and it is beautiful. Thank you. I'll sew on some buttons, try it on a doll, and photograph it.

It looks a little big for the 16" girls. But my Cissy is eyeing it covetously and reaching for her black capris...To be continued...
