Jan you are so right, I should have thought of that myself. It is indeed the crazy 4 purl stitches together that get me into trouble. I used a crochet hook a very long and fine one, and it works better, not smoothy but certainly better. I only do the three rows of the pattern, then knit over in an easier made up pattern and repeat the lace. It is coming together, because I am not giving up.....LOL

For me to knit lace on a square, I have to concentrate totally on my knitting. Since I like to knit while watching TV, this can be difficult!

I understand that totally, we could not have a super woman in our group......who also makes tea, coffee, hands out hugs and picks up the phone when it rings and rings......LOL. Who finds the lost items, and makes supper, reads stories and plays games.....Just knitting right....LOL

I am doing a lace piece now and find it helpful to do it for awhile on scrap yarn -- no gauge importance-- just to get the hang of the rhythm of how the lace is done; when I feel comfy I start the real yarn and go for it then. That way you do not find the beginners errors later !!!!!!! barbara

Well Jan you are closer to the problem than I am - but since we are well on the way to organising all these folk to come "down under " to see me you had better join them and we can all knit lace - I love doing it as one is never bored - I admit Frank sometimes asks for a little quiet when I get too vocal with my k 2tog. wfwd s1 k2 tog k3 etc etc !!! I have just finished the back and front of a lace jumper and am still sane - well as sane as I ever am anyway God Bless Gwen ps we will have to be careful not to get mango juice mixed up with the lace though

Aside from the far north (Nunavut, etc), Labrador/Newfoundland is the only province in Canada I haven't visited. I wanted to come to St.John's next month for Skate Canada, but my friend found it was less expensive to fly to Atlantic City from Vancouver (Seattle) for Skate America. ;>( So, we're off to Atlantic City instead. I still intend to get out there in my lifetime, and would like to go north too. I would love to visit Labrador!

Gwen, I can see you are another who finds that vocalizing the stitches helps to get them in your head. I would love be part of a rcty get-together "down under" if only Australia weren't to terribly far away. And think of poor Frank having to put up with a whole room of knitters calling out their stitches. LOL

Jan, Frank is the real clown who loves to be the light of the party - he would be in 7th Heaven with all of us at once- as it is he cannot wait to hear what crazy things we are up to - he gets great amusement out of the way a subject "develops" here - he figures you must all have *the greatest* sence of humour and then on his other side he is very caring and he just loves the care that eminates from this group - he figures if he wins lotto he will book you all in somewhere and then we can all just have a lot of fun.
