I did it! ! !

Well, it's midnight and I'm going to be exhausted at work tomorrow, but I turned the heel! ! ! The stitches along the instep are picked up and I'm back in the round, decreasing my way toward the foot. I still don't understand why my husband wasn't thrilled that I woke him up to show him. :)

I'm hoping to have a picture of a finished sock to post in a couple days. Joy

Joy,

How did you knitthe heel flap. Slip tht first stitch and purl across or Slip1, purl1 across?

I did the slip 1, purl 1 across. I read the discussion earlier and considered it, but thought I'd try it as the pattern states for my first time. I really like it this way - seems to make a thick heel.

I have did it both ways and I agree with you. If you slip purl wise it makes a great heel flap. Try the other way some time and let us all know if you like it. When you get brave try the toe up sock. They have there advantages.
