Anna Maria, The basket is darling! Could you give us/me a quick review of what it is made from and how large it actually is? Thanks.
Janise
Hi Janise!
Thanks!
The diameter is about 7 inches on top. It=B4s made of very fine thread calling for 0.55 mm hook. Since I used a =
double strain I used a 1.25 mm hook.

Anna Maria
Oh Anna, that is so cute! I was picturing something entirely different when you were describing it. The real life one is much better than what I had pictured in my head!

Thanks Laura!

Dawn
Hi Dawn! Thanks!
I used glue. I prefer it to sugar since ants love sugar :-) I used potato starch in the past but I find the yarn becomes darker with = it. So I used glue diluted in a little water. Lots of glue, since this glue=20 didn=B4t... glue :-( Then I shaped it on a capsized bowl. The difficult is finding a bowl of=20 the right size :-D This time I was lucky and I had one just perfect for i= t. I put a paper napkin into the basket before filling it with chocolate=20 eggs, I don=B4t know if it=B4s safe to put chocolate near to glue. Hugs,
Anna Maria
It probably depends on the type of glue. I ate my share of glue as a child. :)
Thanks for the details. I wouldn't have thought of using a bowl to help shape it.
Dawn
Oh, so pretty Anna Maria! Is the pattern available online?
It's very pretty and nicely done. If you do it again in red or green, you will have another pretty basket for Christmas.
Anna Maria
The basket is wonderful.

No, no, Dawn, what we ate was paste. That lovely yummy snow-white paste that came in little cans and smelled and tasted of wintergreen. And the teachers tried to tell us that our insides would stick together if we ate it. The glue was ugly yellow viscous liquid that you squeezed out of those bottles onto the pencil-eraser-type tip. ;)
Hi Norma and thanks! The pattern comes from a old Italian leaflet. I think that I could share it, since it=B4s at least 25 years old (I=20 remember making a basket in 1980), but it=B4s in Italian...
Hugs,
Anna Maria
Oh, I'm afraid that my Italian is sadly lacking. Oh well. Thanks anyway.
It is really pretty.

Hi Anna Maria! Now I got very curious! What sort of glue did you use? Is it a "glue powder" as we used to wall paper earlier, or is it a special glue paste? I did not know that potato starkening changed the colour, but as potatoes oxidates(???)easily, it is understandable. I must confess that I have starkened crocheted items only TWICE, and I used sugar. You are right about ants... I read it as aunts!!!LOLOLOLOL!! ... and thought: well I am an old aunt, am I not??!!! AND I love sugar!!!
Hugs Aud ;-))
