Innocent looking cat!

I was sat here merrily knitting the first few rows of a new project, my cat playing sort of with the ball of wool then came and sat by me on the sofa. Wasn't until row 3 I realised the wool had been bitten through and I had just a dangly end left lol

Having not done a lot of knitting with a cat around before I found it funny. Bet I don't if it happens again

Heh heh- welcome to the world of cats. I came home from work the other day to find that one of the furry critters had dragged the heavy blanket OFF the top of my yarn basket and the dog had dragged all of my balls of sock yarn all over the house, found them scattered everywhere. I'm sure I'll be finding a dangly end or two! Marie and the cats

We've only had Bailey since last May, my first ever cat and it's been an experience to say the least. Good fun though :o)

We have six (yes six!) cats and they are rarely innocent. Each one is quite a different personality but all share the long-held desire to get into my sewing/craft room - it's the one room in the house they aren't allowed. If the door is left open for even a second at least one will seize the opportunity to make a dash in to explore the marvelous piles of stuff within. Several learnt to open the door by jiggling it repeatedly, I had to stifen up the door latch mechanism to make it cat proof.

Knitting isn't a problem around the older cats (except that they often want a cuddle when I knit and it's rather difficult to manipulate needles with a large cat in your lap. We just added two more last month so they are still kittens and knitting around them is an impossible task at present.

I've often thought that if cats had opposable thumbs we'd all be in serious trouble! :)

LOL I have read about cats like that. I had one who used to hang onto the handle until someone came along to get her something, but she never mastered opening it!

My daughter`s cats mastered it , and we were all afraid that one day they will get in and the door wil close on them , thus the special closure ,,,, she also gas double doors like in the zoo, Mine has another habit , in the morning when he is all ready to go out , but i am still asleep , he lifts up my eye`s lid with his paw, this is rather frightening . One of her clolleagues had a cat that would jump on the stove open pots` lids and distribute the cooking meat to the 3 dogs of the house , than eat a bit himself ......i didn`t believe it , than one day they let me be there when it happend.... My cat is master of the looks that say;"are you talking to ME???? do we know each other ? |,,, but i trained him to come when i whistle ,. to come home before dark , And i must say that during the war we didn`t let him out , only several moments in the dawn , and he behaved well , but for several months would hide when a Big noise was heard. mirjam

Oh, I can so relate to the bit about cats cuddling. My Lilith likes to plunk herself in my lap when I'm knitting. Of course, she doesn't sit still. She'll start kneading on my legs, and when she's finally finished with that will bump her head into my shoulder to get my attention. When that doesn't work she taps my shoulder, and if that doesn't work she practically throws herself at me. She did this once when I was sitting at the computer and kind of threw herself off the chair when she failed to connect with my shoulder. It was amusing :-)

We had a cat that managed to swipe a full pound of hamburger off the counter and somehow get it up to the top of the kitchen cupboards. We are lucky we found it before it got tooo "ripe". He left when we started remodeling the basement (too much dust, I guess) and arrived back home when we had finished. We didn't see him in between but he must have been checking on the progress. Judy

My cat, who is almost 15, adores the knitting. She likes to sit quietly on my lap while I knit, occassionlly taking a swipe at the yarn. The trouble comes when either she or my dog are on the couch and get a piece of yarn wrapped around a leg and then take off...no harm to the pets, but they can unfurl a skein very fast. I had to put a lock on my fridge when my dog started opening it. He would only do it when I was home, so it was about attention, not hunger. Madelaine

My mother's cat was only defeated in her attempt to steal an entire frozen chicken from the kitchen bench when (after dragging it right throught the house) she could not get it through her cat door!

Me too. They have been very entertaining. It almost makes me want to go out and get a cat.
