iI think that would is 4 for me and 11 for others -- not counting the kids hats I knit for charity - the hats would add about 10-12 more, I think. (I am not too sure about the count on the hats as I send them periodically as I get a batch to mail. I am not counting the ones I have in various stages -- two sweaters and a vest on the needles at the moment.
Hi Mirjam,
Last year, two for me, everything else for others. Same so far this year too, three for me, rest will go to others.
Hugs,
Nora
Hi
Well this year so far I have finished one time for myself and everything else for a hospital that I knit/crochet for their tuck shop.
Most of the stuff that I end up making goes to others and I keep very little. That is why I'm happy about working on my NYCO as it will be for me.

There was this nice 2-color hat that I made for myself, but it was too small - It turned out to be just the right size for my SIL. She liked it so much that the monment that she put it on and looked in the mirror, I knew she wanted to be wearing it as she stepped into the snow in Boston. I did not resisit. How do you score items like that?
How about a really fancy single knee sock that get packed away with the yarn to do the other sock? Is that a "for me" finished object? That one sock has more hours in it than any other pair of socks that I have ever done. How do we score something like that?

There are lots of single socks hiding out around the globe from what I have read here - fess up folks, how many singletons do you have. I know I have one afghan-style kids sock - toe up, different style heel than I usually do and lots of pattern - kid in question now too large for the sock but it took so long I hate to rip it.

I think I have been very good to do things for myself this year! But still I have done much more for others. AUD :-)
Christmas stocking maybe. You only need one of those Love & higs Christine
Hand-knit singles? Just one! The rest are pairs.

I'm trying to remember-------
5 hats 3 blankets 1 sweater 4 scarves 11 pairs slippers 2 (embroidered) bags 1 fake fur mouse for the cats these were all for others2 pair socks
1 scarf for moi.
In the last 15 years or so, I've knitted one poncho for me. That's all - and I was never happy with the way it turned out, so I don't wear it.
For the house, I've knitted two cushion covers.
I've started two sweaters for dh (didn't finish them, because he didn't like them), and a waistcoat.
I've knitted loads of jumpers for the children, plus mittens, ponchos hats and scarfs.
My ratio *will* be changing - when I'm done with the things I've promised the kids, I will do several things for me.
(1) It's part of your portfolio. Proves you can do it. (2) Knit the second, find someone the right size, give them the pair. (3) Material for a felting project.
I have two, but both are part of my portfolio; one is the only argyle I'll ever knit, the other was to test a pattern.

PENNY ,,,,, 1 item for you in fifteen years ,,,,, i fell off my chair ,, YOU HAVE TO KNIT YOURSELF SOMETHING this years PLEASE mirjam
Right now, the count is relatively even, 5 for me, and 6 for others, friend has a baby due in another month or so, so that baby blanket is next up, and then I'm going to do 1 of 3 sweaters I'd like to make for myself this year, a fair isle pattern I've designed.

Actually, it isn't quite as bad as it sounds - I've sewn myself quite a few clothes, so I'm not completely deprived. I made several maternity skirts and dresses, as well as nursing tops. Just before Christmas I made myself a skirt.
I am currently knitting a jumper for myself, a plain V-neck in a multi- coloured yarn.
Aha Penny i was teasing you ,,,,, of course it is not so bad ,,,,it just that lately i became aware of this fact that many knitters do it for many others ,,,, mirjam
