Hi everyone I see so many negative posts about Marthas poncho. Even if Martha is making mega bucks from this poncho/pattern, and even though an inmate may become semi-famous, I have made 4 of these ponchos since the pattern came out last week and I have to say they look fantastic. I made them from Lion Brand Harmony in off white, night blue, black and brown tweed and two tone brown tweed. I rather like the idea that some, like me, have been inspired to do something fun, creative, fashionable and quick. My husband passed away suddenly on February 11th and I am trying to keep busy. While I am not able to concentrate on much right now, I found this project both fun to do and relatively mindless. Thank you Martha! Madeleine in Whitby, Ontario

Dear Madeleine! I am so sorry to hear about your husband!
And I can very well see that creating somthing can help you! I am impressed that you did FOUR in a week, and can imagine they look fantastic!
I hav to say I envy you the yarns, of couse I can get lots yarns here, but not so many different shades. I can order it via Internet, but that is not the same as getting it when you see it!
Good luck with your further work, Madeleine; you know you'll get a chat with us, whenever you need!
Warm thoughts to you from AUD in Norway ;-)) alrefsnesathotmaildotcom

I too am sorry for your loss, Madeleine. I have major surgery coming up soon and knitting/crocheting has been a lifesaver for me, it helps so much to reduce anxiety and stress.
I am just curious - because there are so many Martha poncho patterns out there right now - which one did you use? I'm assuming the LB pattern since you used LB yarn - did you use the knit pattern or the crochet one? I have been knitting lots of socks to wear in the hospital while I'm there but I'd love to make a "going home" poncho for my trip home - I think that would be a good way to keep me optimistic that I will make it through the surgery and that there
*will* be a trip home :)Thanks, take care Madeleine,
Viv (who has never made a poncho)
Martha,
My condolences on the loss of your husband. I am glad you have found making the ponchos good therapy for you.
Take care, BonnieBlue

Sorry to hear about the loss of your husband.
Glad to hear that you are keeping yourself busy. Having something mindless right now is also a good idea.

Viv, Good luck with your surgery. I know that your knitting/crocheting will help you remain relatively stress-free as you prepare for it. It always helps me at difficult times.
