Ewwwww.

And as an afterthought....I bet I haven't heard "grodie" > In my experience, the acrylic yarns also have an unnatural fondness for

If you want to make lots of dishcloths out of acrylic - go right ahead. Then, when you have enough of them, stitch them together and you will have a nice afghan.

I'm not Nora, but I've done many a dishcloth in both knit and/or crochet. Six of one, half a dozen of an other..... doesn't seem to matter. I prefer mine done in kind of a loose stitch. If the gauge is too tight, I find they stiffen up after a while, while the loosey goosey ones don't.

My 2 cents. HTH

Pamjam, good new name!

Wooly, that part about bleaching... ...I have never thought about it, just because I love to work with (many) coloures.. and my dishclothes do NOT look very pretty after a short time, in spite of frequently washing! AND... there is MUCH coffee in my kitchen too!!!! Now I will buy some white "stuff", good for bleaching and 100*C wash! May be you have given me the key to a "delicate kitchen" LOL!! AUD ;-))

I have made dishclothes for myself at home, and MANY for my summerhouse (since I have holiday there, I have plenty of time for knitting, and dichclothes are a smell, easy work to do in the summertime) I have made sebveral for my sister and sister in law, and for my children, nieces and nephews who are sudents. They all love them, want more, OR best of all, will learn to knit them themselves! Aud ;-)

I have experienced that too, 100% cotton, but NOT absorbant. I tried to "boil out" some of the stuff I *think* they have soaked the yarn in(may be to be more shiny???) It helped a bit, but the towel was not good to use. Aud ,-)
