My 2006 NYCO is also finished

Hi - I am beginning to think I should pick another as this one was simple and with lots of football on the tv this time of year, I got done with it quickly. (Garnet color shawl of silk/mohair in a very easy pattern) Of course, I can't go back now and do a New Year's Day cast on.

However, now I do need to finish that harris tweed yarn vest that DH has been eyeing on the needles. I had to double up the yarn and it is a little bigger than guage but I worked out the math and it looks like I can just make one size smaller and it should work out ok. We shall see - when I get the back done, I should be able to get a good idea of fit before I start the more compicated cabled front. At least, if I have to frog it and make more specific adjustments, I won't have wasted too much time.

After that, I think I will look at my patterns and see if I can find something interesting to do with 1290 yards of aran weight dark blue tweed.

Really! The mohair shawl? Congratulations!

I have casted on my jacket, but DH's yarn came today, the yarn is thin, and the sweater is BIG(LOL) so I think my jacket will get a loooong sleep!

Good luck with the vest, I'm sure you will find a way to do it! I love to calculate and see if it's "right" too! But I have to frog a bit from time to time.... ;-) AUD ;-)

Good grief! I am nowhere near done! But I did work on my scarf tonight. Maybe if it were what I was expecting, I'd be more eager to get it done. Congratulations! What Harris tweed vest???

It's OK Katherine considering my hand/thumb I am not getting much of my sweater done right now. I am work on simple knitting but not my aran sweater.

The pattern was very simple - just some shaping and garter stitch - it came on a slip of paper in with the yarn DS#2 bought for my Christmas. It started from the center top. It doesn't seem to have any copyright on it - looks like something the LYS used to encourage people to try the yarn. (worked with my son) Not as nice as the fancier lace one I made earlier but LOTS easier and faster (and fewer mistakes). I will track it down and send it to you.

Yes, I could see that the thumb would interfere with Aran knitting. As for me, I got several inches done last night.

Well done you two!

Making this afghan for David has broken a very long spell when I didn't pick up a needle or yarn. I thinking now about the next thing I will work on:)

LADIES ,, you want me to die of shame or get a complex ,,, or something ,, i can`t work so quickly ,,,,,,, please ,,,, just finished reaarnaging the buttons on my sweater ,,, since the front has 14 lacy tooth , my first idea was to sew a button opposite on the left sided teeth , to mathch the right side teeth ,, but than i saw it was more interesting to sew the button at the inside of 7 alternative teeth and the out side of the 7 other teeth ....this way my buttons appera like this

< * * < * * < * *= button... besides this did loads of a little here and a little there ,, and all of you finnish you NYCOs like that ??? mirjam

Mine was very simple to do - and I had lots of time as the year end football games were on. I knit sitting on the couch and my DH enjoys having me there so he can share his commentary on the game with someone. I like football too but don't need to watch every move - so good knitting tv. If something great happens, there is usually a replay.

I am feeling a little guilty for choosing something so easy - I am thinking about something more complicated but have several other projects ahead of it. That is one reason I chose something relatively quick, as I knew I needed to get on with the other things. (And then, my son gave me the pattern, needles and yarn for Christmas - so I thought he would wonder if I didn't make it soon.)

Hee! Not to worry Mirjam! I've still only cast on three stitches so you can join me at the back of the class!!!

OH thank you Eimear ,, i strated to feel `bad` ... making some roses, and spending some hours explaning Moebious hats to a friend doesn`t count as NYCO ,,,,, ps last night wore new sweater to concert, and got compliments from a person who usually isn`t very complimentary about my knitting ,,,,, which is a good signhahah mirjam
