Thanks Jane. I joined the shoulder seams with a three needle bind off, and the sleeves were attached by using a machine knitting technique. With the right side facing and the same number of needles in working position as the sleeve stitches, I hung the armhole stitches evenly on the needles, then the sleeve stitches (wrong side facing) , pulled the sleeve stitches through and backstitched the loops off. This gives an even and non bulky join. I use mattress stitch for any other seaming that needs doing.

Thanks, I used Patons Diploma Gold DK. I think it's 60% wool, but I haven't got a ballband nearby at the moment. The jug covers are mainly used by my DH to keep his cold drinks free from flying insects!

Sue, your sweater (should I say jumper?) is lovely. I enjoyed looking at all your photos. All of your work is very skillfully done. Having received squares from you, I already knew it would be.

That is a clever technique - says me who has never done machine knitting. This is for a sleeve that is straight across and not for one with a cap, right?
