I'm going to give the same type hat a try but using 7 1/2" DP #10 needles and not using circular needle. I will be using much smaller yarn this time. After I do a few of these I will probably go on to scarves and then maybe a sweater. Not sure yet. Thanks, :) Susie

Glad to hear you are giving the dp's a try. I convert most of my projects to dp's. On the first round I mark the beginning with a loop of different colored yarn which I just keep passing as I go around and I knit one or two stitches from the next needle before switching to the free needle so the divide between needles is not always in the same place which helps to avoid the "gap" that can occur if the stitch is a bit looser than the rest. If I need a particular number of stitches on a particular needle (as for sox when you get to the foot), I knit the stitches back to the "right" needles as I approach the beginning of the foot.

I'm sure I will understand 'all' of what you are saying after I've been at this a while. I really liked working with the circular needles but this is cool too. I know that the much smaller size will take me much longer though. Thanks, Susie
