My comment about 6 inches

When I was at school, they brought in wearing trousers for girls. Already poeople were allowed to wear them under skirts for religious reasons. Anyway, at the same time that the school were attempting to find out whether the idea was popular, there was a brief petition asking for boys to be allowed to wear skirts; brief because it transpired that boys had always been allowed to wear skirts!

When I went to public school (up to grade 3) girls weren't allowed to wear slacks to school, but when I transferred to the Catholic school we were allowed to wear slacks *under* our skirts and dresses in wintertime. It was so dorky looking though that we would only put them on to go out for recess and then take them off afterward when we came back into class. Of course when we hit grade 7 & 8 it was just way too uncool to wear both at the same time, so instead we would freeze for the sake of looking good... and once we got to highschool (never heard if we were *allowed* to wear slacks under our skirts and dresses or not) we wouldn't be caught dead wearing both together, and even resorted to not wearing boots and instead just wore penny loafters. Talk about freezing your assets! *grin*

Of course the year after I left school the dress code changed and the girls were allowed to wear slacks/jeans to school. Typical. Ah well... now, I rarely wear a skirt or dress... except to weddings, etc where it is much dressier. I can usually be found happily in my jeans & t-shirts... or jeans & sweatshirts in the winter. Shorts in the summer... most of the time, unless I'm going somewhere where I know it will be cooler (to the movies for instance).

Hi Coggie! I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your Dad, I will say a prayer for him.. and for you too, of course. *hug*

I've actually been trying to do a bit more knitting and crocheting, when my hands and arms allow. I was just telling Nora this morning that I have 5 projects on the go at the moment, even though it's slow going. I'm working on a crocheted small afghan that I will be donating to the Inn of the Good Shepherd for the needy, a crocheted hat for the same place, a knitted scarf for my cousin (who I am happy to report has finally gotten an apartment to live in and the doctors are "cautiously optimistic" that they got all the cancer but will be keeping a close eye on her), a knitted head-warmer (ear covering) for her son, and a knitted something that I haven't decided yet what it will be (either a very small baby blanket, or a poncho IF I have enough of that yarn). I just do a row or two of at least one of them each day... more rows if my hands and arms are really behaving though... so it could take a while to finish something. Actually, the small afghan is almost complete so I suppose it would be smart to finish that first and then work on finishing the hat since they are going to the same place... and I have a knitted hat that I finished late last spring that will be going to the same place along with the other things.

Take care!

Hi Ophelia! Good to be back and see everyone again! :o))

I actually just came home from the doctor's about an hour ago. I told him what had been going on last week (I was in way too much pain to move, much less drive 45 minutes to see him at the time), and he said it could possibly have been kidney stones from my description. He gave me a vial and told me the next time I have really bad pains in the same area, to get a urine sample for him so he could test it. *knock on wood* I hope I never have that kind of pain again and therefore the vial can sit in the washroom not ever needing to be used. I drink a glass of cranberry juice and what seems like a ton of water everyday... so that *should* keep everything flushed out of my system.

Hi Jenny! It is so good to be back here with all of my friends again. Thank you, I have missed all of you too. :o)

The fur babies are hanging in there. ;o) Poor old Buffy has some bad days now though, where she has a hard time getting to her feet without a little help from us and then moves around a bit slowly. Casper, of course, runs circles around the poor old girl wanting her to play with him.... she just looks at him like "Get away from me, you dorky young pup!" For the most part though, they are doing well. Yesterday we had a heck of a time getting Casper to go outside (he usually pushes past everyone to be the first one out)... there was a lot of sleet and winds going on out there. No one can ever say he's too stupid to come in out of the rain. Buffy, on the other hand, went right out into it and hung around out there for a while. We had to literally shove Casper out the door and yell at him to get off the deck to pee... then he was right back at the door wanting inside again. Buffy didn't notice and stayed out there until Matthew had to stand out on the deck waving and moving around like a goof (after trying unsuccessfully to get Casper to go back out to lead her in... Casper was like "Yeah, I don't think so! I peed and I'm back in the house where it's warm and dry. You want her, YOU go get her!" LOL) until she saw him . She doesn't hear very well anymore, so needs to see us or see Casper running toward the door before she comes in. It was actually comical to see Matthew on the deck flailing his arms around yelling "BUFFY" until she finally looked at him with a "Oh, what do you want? *sigh* Fine, I'll come in now." kind of expression on her face. LOL
