Fantastic coloures used like that! If you shall sell them, you should get/or THEY should take a higher prize; ALL handwork!!! Not easy to get these days, and very popular among some people! (12-15£ at least. That is even a cheap rate!) AUD ;-)

I do all my sox on handspun hand dyed Aud, never use commercial for it, cant get it over here anyways. Well not unless you want to pay the earth for it.

same colours just the way it turns out, they are all like this, well all my multi dye pot ones are.. if you look closely at all of them, none of them are identical...just the colours repeat when and where. The colours I hackle into long stripey coloured rovings, so when I spin it I have to take the colours as they come through. The pair of socks were made using one large skein frm the same dye bath.

I know Cher, and I'm impressed!!!

And I still think any "buyer" of such socks also will aoppreciate it! Therefor I meen you should calculate it in the prize. We all know that we are not able to get "full wage" for knitting/ other hand work. The "market" is not like that. But hand made socks from handspun and handdyed yarn is so rare and "prizeless", that I think you could take a higher prize if you sell them, regardless if it is for yourself or for charity. My socks, which are made from factory made yarn, are not that exclusive as your REAL handmade, and should get a lower prize. That is how I think! AUD ;-)

Oh I see, well they went for a good price at the workshop, and I expected only half of that...but it's like the handspun hand dyed hand woven stuff, it sells for a bomb.

Would you like me to do you some to try out Aud, you are welcome you only have to say....I mean do enough yarn for a plain pair of socks, only they'll be far from plain when they are knitted going on my other zany colourings......not my fault.......it's Nora's blame her...... ROFL

Well in the evenings Els when DH is tiried and wanting to just sit and chill out, I knit the socks, during the afternoon when shopping and chores are done I spin and/dye the yarn.. sometimes if I'm lucky I can devote even more hours to it.

I knit the socks whilst I'm cooking or watching the pots cook too.. I made a pinny (apron) with a large pocket on the front, and if I need to do something I just shove the socks in there til I've turned the pots down or whatever..

Well it is a way of using up all those odd little bits of fleece that won't quite make a woven scarf, and for the times when you only want to dye and spin a small amount.

So do start spinning, Wooly and I started spinning at the same time, oh my goodness that was back in the year dot...lol but I believe Wooly and others used a drop spindle before using a wheel, so there are ways of spinning without having to go to the expense of a wheel...
