Your socks look as if they are fitted about right... I like the tips Wooly has mentioned. Wooly sent me the twisted sisters sock workbook a few years ago, and it is great, I have my own sock pattern in my head so only use the books for tips and dyeing colours but I keep finding things in it I didn't see last time I looked.
