Noreen, of course I wish you well through what will be a difficult time but I'd like to give a personal observation.
Both Spouse and I have cancer, at present we are 'NED' (no evidence of disease) but we're very well aware that we're not cured. Our experiences have taught us some sad lessons - and we know that our experiences are common to most cancer sufferers.
The worst is that some people - even friends and relatives, can't cope with knowing that someone has cancer. My mother and a daughter stopped speaking to me for a long time - not through coldness but because they couldn't handle the situation. It made things very hard for me at the time. I wouldn't let that happen to Spouse, I blatantly talked about his diagnosis and treatment to everyone so that they knew we were coping well and would welcome their support.
Do give your mother all the time you can and encourage others to do the same. Take her little gifts, do household jobs, if she's well enough take her out for a short time. Laugh a lot and most of all cuddle her - gently though. If you're a long way from her keep in very frequent touch by telephone.
I'm sure I don't need to tell you all this but I want to encourage you to know that you can help. And that it will make a difference.
Doctors are clever but they're not magicians, there are some conditions which can't be cured even in the long term. Pancreatic cancer is usually a short term condition so giving freely of your time and love is especially important for your own happiness as well as your mother's. I wish I'd known some of these things in the past ...
Hugs,
Mary

I'm very sorry to hear about that. I understand pancreatic cancer is one of the worst kinds. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this rough time.
