OT: Food question

This is a very off topic question but....

DH was sent to Korea earlier in the year and was given as a small gift a tub of something that we're not sure how to use. It appears to be a "wet" paste with a small sachet of dry seasoning. The only English characters on the box are "Sunchang Ssamjang (Seasoned Bean Paste)". The picture on the tub looks like the contents of the tub have been used as a base for some sort of vegetable stew.

Does anyone have any idea about how to use this?

A quick email to Kelley, stationed in Japan, but previously stationed in Korea says: it's a cracker spread. HTH, Noreen

I don't know, but Koreans are very fond of beans. They even have bean ice cream.

Sounds like a soya bean spread to me, but you should be able to translate it. What I got when I tried it on the internet was black bean sauce, Soja bean Sauce and Hot barley sauce. Most of them were Soja bean sauces. Make sure you are not allergic to any of these. Since you have no idea what the other ingredients are, it would be wise Ray, at this time to not try it at all, but pass it by. Or contact an Korean friend and ask for advice.
