OT - Weather

I could see out the window by the computer that it is damp, but doesn't really look like it's raining, so I figured it was just a bit of mist. When I called the dogs in the house, both of them slipped on the deck. I stepped out *under* the awning and put my foot where it looked damp.... sure enough it is a glaze of ice! Guess if I decide to go out to check the mail later (I may not), I'd better be very careful and very slow. Jeesh... yesterday I was walking around without my cane, today (if I go out) I will be barely moving *with* my cane.

Please take care, Gem. Try not to fall on the ice. If it is still icy later, leave the mail for tomorrow.

We are also forecast for ice and rain this afternoon. I have been cold all morning. Brr.

Yes Gem, that is what they are calling for in my area as well. So far it's just "rain" nothing too icy yet. The temps are supposed to rise as the day goes on so maybe we will be okay. My husband commutes into Brantford now so i'm praying that he is able to come home tonight.

take care, stay clear of the ice..yikes!

I hope your husband makes it home tonight too! *hugs*

I have to go out in a couple of minutes afterall. I was planning on staying in if Matthew didn't go to work today... which he didn't... he slept until

2:45 PM after being up most of the night. We have one slice of bread, and two crusts left... toast (one slice so far) and tea is all we are able to stomach at this point. I can afford to lose some weight, but Matthew can't... he's already thin enough.

It's been drizzly all day today. The dogs go out to do their business, and then have a good doggie laugh (doggie smiles and pants, and tails wagging) while I am giving them "Fluffer Pups" (rubbing vigorously all over them while saying "Fluff, fluff, fluff, fluff") with their towels when they come back in the house. They think it's great fun, even if they aren't crazy about being outside and getting wet to begin with. LOL

By the looks of things outside, I will have to give myself a fluffing when I come back. Even though I'm not well myself, I don't have it half as bad as Matthew... and he needs to try to get well to go back to work. So I can suck it up and head out into the rain for a couple of minutes and warm up with a cup of tea and my pajamas under an afghan when I come back. :o)

- I'll be holding the rail of the deck tightly (especially going down the steps) if there is a slight bit of ice left outside. Ice skating anyone? LOL

I have to go out in a couple of minutes, for bread. But I will be holding tight to the rail of the deck if there is the slightest bit of ice still outside.... and I will definitely be taking my cane along and moving slowly regardless of how wet I may get in the rain. Unfortunately Matthew has this worse than I do and tea & toast is all we can handle today... so I'm elected to go out for more bread... and he has to get his strength back up so he can get into work tomorrow.

Thank you for your concern. I will be moving VERY slowly. If Matthew isn't on here later (or when he takes a break to be on the phone with his girlfriend), I will come back briefly to let everyone know that I am back safely. :o)

Hi Gemini,

We are expecting the freezing rain here sometime with in the next couple of hours, then over night it's going to warm up to above freezing so we will just be dealing with over two inches of rain before it goes back to snow tomorrow. I'll be here all day as I'm not going to go out in the rain and then find out there is ice under it. I hope you got home safely with no falls.

Hugs,

Nora

Hi Gem:

I hope your trip was a safe one. We were quite lucky in this area, just rain no ice. My husband did make it home with very little trouble...thank goodness. I hope you and Matthew are feeling better soon. We haven't been hit with the flu bug here in a long while, but I hear it's "nasty".

take care stay safe

Thank you, Donna! Matthew is gone back to work today, and I am feeling better too. I just hope it stays away this time with no more rebound effects. We're still pretty leery of dairy products just yet. I have some yogurt in the fridge, but whenever I even look at the container, my stomach starts doing flip-flops... so I think I'll wait a couple more days at least.

Good to hear that you didn't get the flu, or the ice and that your husband got home safely. :o)
