That is superb!
Saved for when I've used up all my bits and can justify buying yarn :-)
Thank you,

Mary Fisher spun a FINE 'yarn': (my answers interspersed within Mary's post)
Isn't it? Unlike Wooly, I don't think I'm ready to tackle it!
Oh, yeah, I saved it too, for when I DO think I'm ready to tackle it!
You are entirely welcome, Mary! :D
That's GOOD! So, like me, you're at that in-between stage! Suffice to say, we're old enough to KNOW BETTER????? :D

I don't know Mirjam. I have been reading about the way you started and you have me thinking.
Any more good advice?
Hugs, Dennis

Noreen,

Well, Dennis , i know that i get [at times] discuraged , by a work getting , bigger and bigger , somehow it seems easier when it gets smaller and smaller amount of stiches per row,,,, Thus i calculated the numbers of stitches [ in Zimmermann`s pattern , and started from the outer side ...[ the timely stop in work happened not because of my being discouraged] ... Of Course GAUGUING is essential ,,, i think you should have a wool you really Enjoy working with ,,, and if monochrome tires you , there is no harm in maybe using 2 hues of same color [ i have 2 hues of camel and i like the shift i do with an uneven number of rows ] For some people making a paper pattern [ or one from an old sheet helps] This is a project that might benefit from having a row counter ,,,or in case you done have one ,,, make colored loops and add one every 5th row , by this you might easily count rows ... Best of Luck , every knitter should try one PR square in life . mirjam

Thanks for the great advice. I am a great believer in counter and using markers to keep count with. If you challenge yourself you will make mistakes. I wish I had a penny for every stitch I have torn out, maybe I could afford a trip to Israel. :) Gail & I use to talk about it. I will try the shawl both ways. It will be something I pick up when I am bored with what I am doing. I still have one pair of socks for Ava to finish, pink at 8 stitches and inch. Very slow, glad her feet are very little yet. I started two crochet afghans that I have not finished yet and doing knitting and crochet for the homeless several minutes a day for our local group.
I will keep you filled in on the project when I start it.
Hugs & God bless, Dennis & Gail

My MOM has been to the one you mentioned, Yarn Sellar, in fact, THEY are the ones I get my gray/grey/greenish alpaca from! (Mom found some, sent me one skein/hank, I fell in love with it, and rather than beg Mom to go back and get me more, I got the phone number and ordered it myself, grin) Recommendations for yarn stores in IL, been too long for me to even try! Now, if you're wanting recommendations as to whom to make that pi shawl for: GAIL, of course, but if she doesn't WANT one, I'd be honoured, grin! BIG hugs to you, too! Noreen

Thanks Noreen,
I was talking about ideas on the shawl. Things to look out for etc.
Dawn and I have become good friends at the "Yarn Sellar", I will mention that we communicate the next time I am in the store. I envy her, after closing down the sewing machine store and going back to college. I have always wanted to be in business for myself again. Dawn keeps fairly busy. You don't make it rich in a "Mon & Pop" shop but, I find it way more gratifying.
If I ever get a ton of time on my hand you never know. :)
Hugs & God bless, Dennis & Gail

Since I've not tackled a pi are squared, I'll leave advisement to Wooly and Mirjam, who HAVE, grin! Hugs, Noreen
who has a NEW headache, my blog, the main one is all screwed up after my hosts did the server change, my theme/templates are lost, my plugins are lost, all my pix are gone, the high customization I did on my sidebars, GONE, enough to make me want to totally give up. I bawled like a baby for 3 hours when I found this all out.

Surely your host has a backup they can access for you? If they caused the problem they should fix it.
Good luck!

They backed up my POSTS, I still don't know about the rest. IF it's 'there' it's NOT in my FTP access. I'm just sick about it, I cried so hard I threw up. Noreen

I'm sorry Noreen, I do understand, it is rather soul-destroying to think of all the work it would take to right it if you have to work from scratch. I've done the work to customize blogs and it's time- consuming stuff.
You use WordPress, yes? I'm surprised that the update overwrote your customized files, I've never had that happen with my one when I update (though it does threaten to do this when you start the update process
- so it should always be backed up first).
I know that there is no consulation if you can't get back what you had easily but if it is gone for ever perhaps you can motivate yourself to pick up the pieces by schemeing a "fresh new look".
:'( Feel for you.

I am happy dancing, JD got a good part of my template/theme BACK, including my sidebars! I still may have to reupload the missing pix, but THAT I can DO. I will also need to reupload my two plugins, but that's also do-able! I'll also have to rewrite my extra 'pages', but again, do-able! The sidebar customization, with all my webrings, those I run and those I belong to, the awards, the links, the fanlistings, they're all THERE, Jd FOUND them, I'm So humbled! Noreen who is backing everything up HERSELF as we 'speak' :D
