Stitches East 2006

Did anyone else attend Stitches this year? Of the 15 that I have attended, this one was the best. So much great yarn, it was hard to resist temptation. 10 hanks of hand dyed cashmere, two hanks of hand dyed angora, enough Prism Wild Stuff for two sweaters and a couple of bags of Berroco yarns managed to follow me home, along with a stack of books and patterns. It is nice to see what fellow knitters are doing. DA

Oh drool........... I'd really like to go to a Stitches West, just because it's somewhere warm. Your purchases sound wonderful and I wish you many days of feeling them up, and then knitting them (laugh).

As an aside - the weather here today stinks. It's grey, dreary and rainy, everything is brown and ugly, and it's getting to me. I think I'm going to go back to bed and pull the covers over my head. But on the bright side - one of my knitting groups is meeting tonight in a book store, so I'm really looking forward to it pulling me out of my purple funk (smile).

I did. I succumbed to temptation. (But I did leave some for other people to buy.) Hanks of cashmerino, hanks of merino, sock yarn, needles, and books. I found it interesting that there was so much blended yarn that it seemed hard to find 100% wool!

Webbs had some very nice 100% wool. By the time I decided to pick up enough for a sweater, the stock was very depleated. The first two places that I head for are Yarn Barn and Mannings, the selection of books they have each year is awesome. Did you get a copy of the Victorian Lace book? There are some interesting historical tidbits in it. DA

Yes, there was 100% wool at some other places, but I had to look carefully!

Several booths had grand arrays of books. One had a table or two of lovely aran-type yarn in with the books, which seemed a little odd.

No, I glanced at it but decided there were others I'd rather get first. I imagine it will be in print for a few months yet.
