Could it be that your bobbin thread is too loose?

did you try re-threading both the top and bobbin threads? i'd play around with the top tension first. could be that is too tight or not tight enough. also while you got the bobbin cover off, give it a good dust out. nothing works well with fluff and stray threads clogging up the works. get some plain muslin/calico to play on while testing the different tension settings. no point in messing up good fabric. jeanne

Take all the thread out of the machine. Dust out the bobbin area (see your instruction manual) and oil if your machine needs oiling. Insert a new needle, especially if you have been using the old one for a while. Re-thread, using the same thread on top and bottom. (Test bobbin tension first by dangling the bobbin case by its thread. It ought to slide down the thread very reluctantly.) Try the stitches on a scrap of fabric. If top thread appears on the bottom, tighten the top tension. If bottom thread appears on top, loosen top tension. Roberta in D
