Sunday morning

This morning I'm enjoying a sunnier view off my back patio - the neighbors finally thinned their "living privacy fence" and cut it back to about 6' so my back yard is receiving some morning sun.

I'm also enjoying my coffee - roasted yesterday, brewed today and quite nice with a little heavy cream.

Knitting in my lap is a Pi shawl made of a blindingly white blend of wool and cashmere. I used random lace patterns from Walker and Sharon Miller. I started the edging last night - plain Jane sidewise garter stitch. I may have enough yarn left over to make a matching cap.

I'm spinning Romney tops right now and making 3-ply yarn. I expect to have spun enough yarn for another sweater by the end of October.

This afternoon I'm doing chores at my mother's-in-law, and making dinner there.

Back to the patio to enjoy the morning coolness while it lasts. It may be October but my weather still says "summer" - I'm expecting 95F and humid by 11am :P

It sounds lovely! The sun is just now over the hill onto my street, but there is a cold wind blowing and it's freezing out.

Oh yum! I could use some of that myself. Where is my grinder?

Learning how to spin is on my list of things to do someday. I've been saying for a few years now I'd love to make a sweater from the sheep up, including natural plant dyes, since there are a few in my area that give really nice varying colors, depending on what mordant you use.

Wow, I could use some of that in my neck of the woods as well. We've had a cold snap, and went from 60 at night to freezing in just a week. Had the house fan on yesterday afternoon to move air through, and then had to close up and turn on the heater as the sun went down! However, I'm wearing my frat twin wool socks tucked into my handmade slippers and am contemplating working on some more wool socks in a fingering weight yarn. To knit or crochet this pair is the question. Crochet means they'll be done faster, while knitting means thin enough to fit into any shoes. Decisions!

Of course, I also have a cardigan I'm designing, and I may work on that later as well. I have one more piece shape to design, and then I can see about assembling the back and starting on one of the fronts.

This morning I trimmed about 6' off our neighbours' living privacy fence - back to their side, so my root vegetables now get some sun. They won't be pleased ...

I'd already done that! And me on a diet ...

Mmmm - sounds good.

Send some heat this way, okay? It's 8°C (46F) here, cloudy and breezy. The weather is supposed to improve slightly for Thanksgiving tomorrow, and I'm looking forward to the Fall Supper at the community hall tomorrow afternoon.

DH & I have been busy this past week or so cutting firewood for the woodstove. I haven't had to turn the furnace on at all, since the woodstove is doing a fine job keeping us toasty in the early morning and evening.

I'm working on some socks for Brother in law for Christmas, and 2 pairs for myself. I'll be devoting as much time as possible to finishing up the Peacock Feathers shawl, and will post a link when it's done.

Hi Everyone,

It's Sunday afternoon here, and it's been a peaceful day. Early to rise, breakfast and church. Lunch and the bookstore afterwards, and THEN, I got a nap!!! Whew, a precious rarity around this house for me.

I'm trying to decide what's for dinner tonight, and I plan on finishing the Liesel scarf I started around a week ago.

Morning Wooly,

I am still working on the crochet afghan for our friend. Went to church this morning and I am taking it easy. Had a rough night and work up with every thing hurting like hadies.

Please send us a pic.

Hugs & God bless, Dennis & Gail

Well, Sunday morning State side is Monday morning for me, which means dragging myself to work and resenting the time away from more interesting pursuits. The weekend wasn't as creative as I planned due to a sick little cat (which resulted in an expensive vet visit but she perked up considerably after a good dose of anti-inflammatory and anti- biotics).

I've been trying to get a lace shawl pattern idea out of my head and onto "paper". It's warming up here as it cools for you so my mind turns to lighter knits and chores like washing fleece to dry outside.

Whoa... we've been having a heat wave the last few days here in southern Ontario. In the md to high 80's F. Most of our windows are open all day and night, and we're wearing shorts and tank tops and STILL roasting. I hope it's a *bit* cooler tomorrow or I'll end up having to sit outside the entire time the turkey is in the oven. I even took a cool shower this afternoon to try to bring down my body temperature a bit (stupid pool had to spring a leak and drain itself out, didn't it?), but within a half hour I was roasting again. Ah well, I don't want to complain too much... we'll be getting cooler/cold weather soon enough where we'll be bundling up with layers of clothing on to keep warm. ;o) In fact later in the week it's supposed to get to the mid 60's F... that won't be too bad at all.

I got home from the hospital at lunchtime, it seems my lungs are finally clear, but my legs are made from cooked spaghetti!!! I am spending my time on the couch, but hope to pull out the knitting very soon.

You're in my prayers, hon. Hope the lungs are going to stay clear and give you a rest for a while. (No matter how hard one tries one just can't rest in hospital. ;-))
