I've never actually seen anyone wearing a shrug, but within this past year I have seen so many people (females... from all I've seen anyway) of all ages wearing ponchos. :o) I really do want to get at least one made at some point.... guess I could do a little here and there as I find I have any energy (and arm/hand strength) to work on it.

Peace! Gemini

What I did for my shrug was cast on the number of stitches needed to make a comfortable cuff on small needles. after about 2 inches, I switched to large needles and knit the length up my arm, across the back, and then back down the arm, until 2 inches from the end. I then changed back to the small needles, casting off after the 2 inches. Then I sewed up the sleeves and Voila! my shrug. I normally don't wear shawls, but have worn my shrug at least 5 times! I have also been able to just throw it over my shoulders like a shawl.

Oh that sounds neat, Janise, thank you for sharing! I'm saving your instructions to try at a later date. It sounds easy enough, and I won't have to really worry about keeping track of how many rows I have completed when I have to put it away for a few days (or weeks) here and there. :o)

Peace! Gem
