The next Martha's poncho?

I'll bet there's a story behind this little afghan... wonder if the ABQ police got it from volunteers?

LOL And wasn't that a strange story? DH and I were discussing it tonight. Odd, to say the least!

A whole new spin on knitting for charity: head covers for the police to give out to folks who don't want to be photographed. Something new under the sun! And yes, very strange. And sad for all concerned.

It does look like it was probably a hand-made donation. Since it is small, it was likely meant to cover and comfort a child.

Right, that's what I was thinking. Which tells you the ABQ officers' take on the situation. Though this child is, I think?, 32.

Personally, I guess I think that comfort should go where it's needed. If only grown-ups (prisoners, people in trouble, etc.) could carry blankets around for comfort, maybe just maybe the world would be a better place.

I've knit a comfort afghan for a cat -- guess I'd do the same for a grown-up.

Mostly, though see my answer to Tante Jan. Whoever marked this subject as "OT", I'm surprised that a knitted afghan is OT, but I bow to everyone's pleasure.

I have a feeling, when I read the follows up on this posting, that again I am missing most of this thread. It seems disjointed.

I did go to the website with the picture of this mixed up girl. It looks to me that it was a laprug that was in her car, and came in handy to pop over her head. She must have felt very silly about this whole thing. The laprug looks like someone kind knitted it for her, one of those things that maybe does not look like a designer's item, but is like a gift from a kind heart. I hope things will work out for her and that she can look back at this episode with a smile.

Yeah, i was following that story too...very strange. I'm kind of sad that she felt she had to go through this whole melodrama instead of telling her fiancee that she needed more time. :P

As for the afghan...Martha's poncho set a pretty high standard...I don't know about this one! LOL
