Update on me

Hello all Boy I miss being here more often , it's always great to catch up with friends. Some days I just grab a cuppa and relax and just read all the posts . Today has been one of those days. I have an interview tomorrow with a bank position. Not my first interview with the bank so I have done alot of praying over this position and it now sits firmly in Gods hands. One way or another I will get the right job for me. While I have been job hunting I have also been doing some knitting in public. I have met some wonderful ladies at the local Barnes & Noble book store. One of them called me today to ask over the phone how to correct a problem that she has ripped out a couple of times. Hubby laughed and told me I should be teaching more if I can tell someone how to correct a problem without even looking at it. I just smiled knowing that what comes around goes around and one day I will work in my passion instead of at a job I have to have to pay bills. Then later in the evening another friend called to tell me she dropped stitches and needs to know how to use a crochet hook to pick up the stitches and face them correctly ... this got me thinking that maybe hubby is correct and I really need to be looking for a job in a yarn or craft store , if nothing else maybe post about a new sit n knit so people can meet up and learn together. Well , I need a job to help out with bills , but in the off time I think I will see about getting something going or a second job for fun. Right now I am getting back to basics and have discovered Sally Melville's book the knit stitch. I am working on the Einstien coat in a fall colored acrylic ( I know! I know, but it is for football season and needs to be washed weekly ) I am using rainbow dreams by Caron in Trade winds coloring. I actually have used this yarn for several afghans crocheted and I love the way it washes. My Aunt in law saw me working on my coat and now wants one for Christmas in a boucle yarn in chocolate heather ...... mmmmmmmmm yarn shopping soon for this project.( Oh Darn!) Other projects going are a raspberry wool " fringed benifits" that has become a UFO I really need to work on more. I think I might have 5 more inches in the middle to knit up , then kitchner the two pieces together and do the cowl neck. Really it would be a weekend finish ....( might do this up this weekend while hubby is at military drill.) Need a push to get it done. Am I the only one who has startitis? I love new projects but have a really hard time finishing .. am I afraid of the completed object or do I just become attched to the project so I cannot finish? something to ponder over. I am also making a few pairs of socks . One is from Sock hop and the other is from Crazy heels and toes. I love both patterns books and socks are so easy to take in the car while I am carting the kids around. Well I hope this catches you up on me and I hope all your lives are going smoothly at this time. God Bless , Coggie

Hi Coggie How wonderful to 'see' you again, I was only wondering about you the other day, wondered where you'd gone and how you were.

I do hope you hear soon about your job and which way it is going to go....the worst part is waiting isn't it? I do wish you luck in this.

Well maybe you could run a small evening class for beginner knitters once or twice a week. In your home or theirs this is a great way to get your foot on the first rung of the ladder to take it on, on a more full time basis if you later want to. ~ Of course if you advertise this and end up with alot of students you could always collect a small amount from each person to pay for the hire of say a church hall or something.....Just food for thought!

Whatever you do Coggie, I wish you well, do keep us posted in this.....others have news to share with you I'm sure, and will be well pleased to see this thread from you.

Hi Coggie,

It's great to hear from you. Prayers that you get the bank job if that is what you would like. I do agree with the others about starting a little side line in the knitting either for a little fee or free.

I love the sounds of all the projects you have going.

Hugs,

Nora

Coggie, I don't know where you live, BUT where I live it is possible to WORK at your passion and make money at the same time...I teach knitting, beginning, sock and lace, in Phoenix Az. for the city of Peoria, soon the city of Goodyear and for Estrella Mountain Community College....(it cracks me up that I am teaching ANYTHING at a college!!!) ..they all pay 15+ dollars per hour.....if you are interested, try call the recreation dept. of the city you live in, and surrounding cities...........and ask if they are interested in offering knitting classes........(of course you have to have a lesson plan, and I'd be happy to share mine with you!) this is just a suggestion, but it's something you can do at night, and work it into a good paying job!!!! If I can do it, any good knitter can!!!!! Maggs

Hi Coggie,

Piggy-backing on Cher's reply due to the nature of my reply. ;o)

In the summer I mentioned running into a girl I used to hang around with in my teens and that she and her sister now have their own business in their homes a couple of times a week teaching painting classes. They had taken painting classes at a nearby college, and after a couple of years of painting on their own and teaching themselves more techniques, they decided to start teaching in their own homes. They charge (just an idea for you, although you might feel that this is too high a price... I took crochet lessons years ago in a yarn shop for $10 per lesson) $25 per lesson and on the second night after you decide that you really do want to continue with the lessons they also have a package of easel-paints-brushes that they sell for an additional $25. Like I said, just an idea to get you started. I wish you much luck in your endeavors! :o)

Peace! Gemini

Hello Coggie, How wonderful it is to hear from you - we miss you - I am sure you know that but I have to remind you !

I wish you well with the job application and also with the idea o helping with problems in the craft field - I am sure there must be an opening for such a thing, especially as so many of the mothers these days have never knitted and it is becoming fashionable for the younger ones to knit.

God Bless and we hope to hear from you more often
