The Great Tapestry of Scotland

It's arrived in Orkney. On the Facebook page it shows a photograph with the caption "Part of the Great Tapestry of Scotland has arrived in Orkney. The brainchild of writer Alexander McColl-Smith, it aims to tell the story of a nation from pre-history to modern times. It's hoped that as many folk as possible will take part by adding a stitch to the work, which will be available at various venues throughout the coming year. Local organisers are also keen to get some sponsorship to allow the tapestry to travel as widely as possible around the various communities. Pictured are co-ordinators Jo Constantine (left) and Moira Gunn. If you or a group you're involved in is interested in getting involved - or if you'd be able to help out financially - then contact Jo on 831 708." Facebook page
