OT: Need a new news reader

I use news.individual.net for my news server but I am in need of a new news reader. Right now I'm using Windows Live Mail which used to be ok until this last upgrade. Now almost 1/3 of my screen is filled with a toolbar that they call a ribbon and when I reply to a post it won't even put > in front of quoted text (which is going to make replying to a thread pretty confusing.) I know I can hide the ribbon but then to do just about anything I have to unhide it. What a PITA!

So, does anyone have a suggestion for another news reader? Thanks!!

I use Mozzilla Thunderbird. It is free and handles newsgroups well. You can also use it for mail.

It includes calendar and task tabs, for those who don't have those available in other applications. If you already use a different calendar, then you can simply close those tabs and they'll not interfere with you.

I'll second this! I use Thunderbird and find it's a nice minimalist interface - which is exactly what I want for email and newsgroups. Minimalist in that there aren't lots of unnecessary graphics, since there are various settings to tweak to individualize it to your taste.
