UFO marathon!

I know I haven't been here in a long time. I am hoping to return soon (I miss you guys). We are moving back to Norway soon so I have begun a UFO marathon (Unfinished Objects). I have completed a leotard set for my youngest daughter, a dress for my oldest daughter that was actually a toile for her 8th grade dance dress. It came out so nice that I have finished it. I finished an indian salwar chamiz (not sure of the spelling there). That is the pants, the long tunic and the scarf. My neighbor brought back the fabric from India last summer. Another neighbor gave me a sari and I have now finished the blouse that goes under that. I still have a skirt left, a renaissance costume (simple) and 3 embroidery projects before I think I am finished. I hope this is an inspiration for someone out there with a bin full of UFO's. I am doing my best not to start any new projects in the meantime!

Hi Beverly I wish we could have met as well. We just got back from summer vacation and I think we almost followed the footsteps of you last vacation (or the one before that). We flew to DC, rented an RV and toured all the cities on the east coast before driving up to Newfoundland. We ended up driving 4800 miles (Canada is bigger than we thought) I thought of you when we were in DC. Of course, there was a heat wave and it was around 103 F! I am with you on loathing alterations. Sometimes I just keep them so long that the child either grows into it or out of it LOL.

I really wish we could have gotten together, too, since you've been living less than an hour away from me all this time. What is the phrase, "So close & yet, so far apart." Maybe, next time, you visit the good ole USA,FL or back here, let me know. You are inspiring me to get into some of my UFOs and finish some soon, especially before DGD outgrows ones I began for her. I sure wish we would have been able to meet while you were here. Have a safe trip home.

Good for you! I have set myself the goal of completing a bunch of alterations before I start any new projects. And I loath alterations.

I wish I could just get on top of the mending :-)

I hate mending too! But it usually takes less time than other projects and you can go through a whole pile of it in an evening.

Oh I don't mind it, in fact I like it because each item takes so little time, as a rule. The problem is that it keeps mounting up, the bottom of the pile is ever further away :-)

That should change now because I'm throwing away lots of Spouse's clothes now that we've bought plenty new ones for the cruise. Same with mine - and because I've lost weight some of my old scruffy clothes are too big anyway so they're out :-)

It's hard to begin discarding clothes but it becomes cathartic!
