A new tool and a new skill

Yesterday when I was in town to do some Christmas shopping I saw that my favorite hobby store now sells felting needles. There was only one package left on the shelf, so of course I could not leave there all by itself. That means that we will have some play time the next days.

The previous days I have been busy making new clothes. I am going to sewing classes together with DD2 and we are having lots of fun. We started with making an apron and potholders. But right now I am wearing a skirt I made, and I have a matching top to go with it, that I finished today. I think I will wear my "ensemble" for Christmas.

Awww, poor needles... of *course* you couldn't leave them there all alone! ;o)

Sounds wonderful! And such fun too, to be doing this with your daughter! :o)

Ria, so nice!! You inspire me to finish MY skirt; I started sewing it around november1. And there it lies, I think I have max. 1 hour work left. But I don't have "guts" to do it :-) Earlier I sew much of mine and the children's clothes. But now I am out of practice, and it takes much more time! But WHEN it's ready, it is SO nice to wear what you have made yourself! Good luck! AUD ;-)

Hi Ria,

Oh, that's great taking a sewing class with your DD2. That is one thing I don't like to do, in fact I even gave the sewing machine away.

Now, to show how dumb I am, what are felting needles?

Hugs,

Nora

Nora, needle felting is such a fun thing - BUT you must be very careful not to stick yourself with the needles. Go here for a great website that explains it all:

Hi Shelagh,

Now I remember you telling about it some time ago and had forgot what it was. Thanks for the refresher on it. I have enough holes in my fingers that I don't need any from those.

Hugs,

Nora

Thanks for the URL, that is a really cool website. I think I would like to give that a try myself, sure looks like fun. I learned how to do all kinds of sewing when I was young, sure is fun and I've saved and been able to make money on the side! Thats wonderful that you and DD2 are having such a good time doing the classes together! I taught my sons some basic sewing (heh heh) it was very interesting but they caught on to the idea. Show us some pictures when you're able to, I would love to see them. Marie and the cats
