it's one of them, yes. dad had MANY of them. most of them are filled with TONS of lead type. since i can't buy/store the presses and all the type, i settled for an empty cabinet to fill with BEADS.

i'm going to keep putting up pictures as i get it cleaned up and ready to use. it's 6ft 6in long. about 2ft wide, and stands a bit more than
3ft tall. it holds 26 California Job Cases, 26 of another kind [i don't know what they're named, but they're almost square] and has 9 "tool" drawers in between the two sets of type drawers. and SOMEONE painted it DARK GREEN. but not very well. so i have to decide: do i restore it and ruin it's "antique" value, but make it look nice or leave it "as is" and put up with it. odds are, i'm going to refinish it, because they're mostly solid oak and i've seen how pretty dad's looked. OTOH, i disassembled ONE drawer years ago. and it took weeks.i want to put black "satin" in the bottom of the drawers so the beads look nice.

]I've eyed some of those too - you can get the drawers around this area all the ]time - but finding the cabinets seems harder...
the only reason we have the cabinets is because dad would buy them from schools when they quit teaching letterset printing. i grew up practically in a print shop.

I know those type holding spaces are small. Could you get a sheet of foam
1/4" or 1/8" thick in charcoal grey, and cut pieces for each space? Satin would just be way too hard.Tina

i'm going to take the backs off, cover them with satin, then put them back - NOT cut hundreds of 2" squares of satin!

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh - I can see it now! I would definitely strip the case down to the oak. It'll be breathtaking when you're done!
