OH MY!
I would have never thought of lampworked knobs.
If I actually do move into the old house I'm looking at (circa 1892, with all of the original woodwork, except in the kitchen) I WANT SOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It has a full wall built in china hutch and buffet.... wouldn't that be to DIE FOR?!!!
Ooooh, wow - I'm jealous!! Yes, handmade knobs would be wonderful on furniture like that. :)
Would off hand torch based be like those lacy animals made at the fair?
Tina
Yes, and marbles, and eggs, and just about anything that can be made in a torch but without a mandrel, but those are the only things I can think of right now (there has to be more, I should think).

Brass works better (with regards to cracking) than stainless... I've made them directly onto the screw, as well, but I wasn't as happy with that method because, just like the ones where the screw goes through the glass, you have a screw sticking into your drawer, and have to cut it off... not the worst fate it the world, and I LOVE the look of the ones with the screw going through, but it bugs some people.

I love old glass knobs too! It's been my dream for years to make art glass doorknobs... I even have a slogan picked out and everything, but I'd be lucky if no one else is using it! "Jewelry for your House" seems kinda obvious in retrospect.

put me on the list.....! I really, really want some ferules in brass... and at Lowes, they are selling ceramic knobs that have a screw through the center... but on the outside they have this little brass "rosette" thing.... I wish I could find a supplier for those - they are obviously just a stamping.... they would be perfect on bead/knobs...

You are officially on the list. He's still in construction stage and I don't make things easy for him. He's my best friend's hubby so I can usually get away with it.
