C&R Loo glass bulk buy? (kinda OT)

I am looking at the C&R Loo website, and they do have quantity discounts. Several people here have expressed interest in taking part in a bulk buy. I would volunteer to place the order and handle the shipping, if enough people are interested in doing an order. They carry all sorts of glass, so we can either stick to one type of glass (better discount, I suggest Lauscha) or if we have enough people, do all types of glass. Post here if you're interested, and I will look into it. I have never ordered from C&R Loo before, so if anyone has any tips, please post.

Hi Kandice,

I'd be interested in Lauscha. I'm not sure about the others.

Hmmm - someone said that C&R Loo is often out of things. And since most people who have expressed an interest are looking for Lauscha, I am inclined to check other suppliers to see if we can do a bulk buy. Give me a few days and I will find out who has what and get back to everyone. If anyone has any advice, please post here. :)

Kandice, Unless they've changed something, you can assort Moretti, Lauscha, Murano, and Satake for a discount. Don't know if you know this or not, but they have a $.50 per pound cutting charge for orders over 5 lbs. I've ordered from them before, sometimes they are out of a lot of stuff, other times they have everything I need, no rhyme or reason that I can figure out.

store. Hopefully they have some Lauscha - 'cause if they have some, I will take everyone's orders and drive there. To get a good discount, we need a bunch of people, though. Any more takers?

Well, this is all great, except if they are out of stock on most things, I would rather not bother with a bulk buy there. But I am still checking. Will call Frantz, C&R Loo and Arrow Springs to see what their present stock situation in Lauscha is before deciding. Unless anyone has a preference. :) A cutting charge is a pain, since it's free elsewhere.

Count me in for 4-5 pounds, please.

I want some Lauscha clear -- that's it!

Why pay a cutting charge? I cut my rods myself with tile nippers. It takes a while, but it is one of those multitasking type thing you can do while watching tv or something.

Here's another (probably dumb) beginner's question, since you mention cutting rod with tile nippers. Can you cut small slices off the ends of rods, or is this just for cutting long rods into shorter (say 8-12 inches) ones? Cold or hot?

Separate subject -- visited the International Gem & Jewelry Show today and there was a lot more bead-related activity than I can remember from past shows. The neat thing was that with very few exceptions I could look at the stranded beads and say "oh, I can do that kind". And absolutely no high-quality "flower beads" anywhere! Seen in the parking lot: a VW New Beetle painted up with eyes and a smiley mouth on the hood, and something about beads stenciled on the sides. I should have copied the 888 number and called to see what that was all about.

I'm interested. I know I'm bad to want more glass, but if that's how it is, I'm happy to be bad!
