Challenge Winner!

Aug 13, 2003 20 Replies

I had the child pick a name out of a bowl this afternoon, and the winner of our "Let's get out of this darned rut" challenge is:

(can you bear the suspense?!?)

(yes, I am yanking your chain)

(But at least I don't misspell things)

Shirley Shone!

Let's hear it for Shirley! Not only is she the prizewinner, she was (I think) the first person to submit her photo for the contest.

Now, Ms. Shirley, I have Euros and I have US Dollars. Which are easier for you to spend? Or, would you like to place an order for beads or something and I can have them shipped to you. Let me know how you want to spend your teeny little windfall.

And let's have a round of applause for the lovely lady with the tassels!

(Not like that. You guys, I swear -- have the filthiest minds!)

There is an art to the building up of suspense... ;-)

Ooooh, congrats Shirley!! It couldn't have happened to a nicer lady. :)

WOOOHOOOO! GO SHIRLEY!!!!!!!!!!!

Kathy I am back. Sorry for the abrupt departure. I was really shocked to read my name. I felt faint and started shaking and my heart going faster than normal. I really thought I was going to pass out.

For a few minutes I felt really weird and I still feel shaky. Must be the heat as well that is effecting me.

Well I feel honoured to have my name drawn out of the hat. It is most unusual for me to win anything drawn out of a hat, not even a carrot or the rabbit.

My brain as been whirling as to what I should do with the prize. First I thought of beading threads, then findings. Then up popped an idea.

I would like some of Kandice's lamp worked flower beads in delicate colours. No purples though.

Do you think that can be arranged.

Thank you all for your kind words.

Now I must really go and seek my bed and rest and get rid of the shakes. Love you all Shirley

Thank you Kandice. I like pinks, blues, greens and yellows. Well whatever you make will be beautiful I am sure.

I feel better this morning. Winning this must have been the real icing on the cake. A few things have been happening and I do not know if I am well enough to tackle them all. I mentioned a short while ago that a shop had asked to see my work. I have not took any in yet because I wanted to do some more. The hot weather as been against me.

When I asked about silver tags on the UK crafts group. A lady got in touch to tell me where to get some in UK. We emailed each other and she is opening a craft shop in Devon later this year. She also asked to put some of my stuff in her shop. She does things in gold and silver for quite a lot of money.

I also got a tip about making my own tags with PMC.

Another thing happened on Tuesday. My friend Pat who takes us on her cabin cruiser came round with a new ice-cream maker for me. I had been saying I needed a new one because my antiquated one took 8 trays of ice cubes plus 400 grams of salt to work it. This new one I just have to keep the bowl in the freezer. It was a big surprise to get a present when it was not my birthday etc. Rather like the BFNR surprises.

Well after I got the gift I was in bed and laid thinking instead of sleeping and the thought struck me. My old ice-cream maker is a cylinder type thing that is inserted in a case with a space round it. I had to put the ice cubes and salt in the space. The paddle comes out totally. The drum is turned with a motor in the base. Since PMC is going around in my mind I thought if I can put the container on it's side on some sort of stand. Could I use it as a tumbler. It is low geared runs quite slow. When I told DH he said there is a possibility that I could and he will have a look at it.

Well I had better stop rambling and go have breakfast. The sun is still shining and we are going to the Antique and Flea Market this morning before it gets too hot for me. Love Shirley

Congratulations Shirley. That tassel is gorgeous.

Oh, can someone post a link to that challenge page? I've lost my link since switching ISP's. Thanks.
