Earring cards

Is there anyplace online where you can order earring cards made up (eg with your own logo and on a background of your choice)?

Or, do you have any good suggestions for quick ways of making them? I don't use them in my display when I do fairs but the shop I sold to wanted some. I have a few my mom made for me for this purpose but not many. The process she took to making them took a long time and I don't have the tools she has.

I really just want card ones with even-looking holes and my logo on them.

Any suggestions?

Hi Marisa darling! Do you have any business cards that you can poke holes in? I've seen this done.

Yeah, I guess :) I always feel like they have the wrong dimensions... but then, some of my earrings hang too low for my current earring cards so maybe that's dumb.

What can I use to poke neat holes?

I went to our local hardware store and bought a punch set (need hammer for this) for under $10. It has _small_ hole dies. Another thought is a leather punch (has wheel with multiple hole sizes and handles to squeeze together) Either of these should work well for you.

An awl, a fat sewing needle, a skinny knitting needle (I *know* you have those!) and the sharp point of a compass if you're desperate.

Do you know how they intend to display them?

When I try to use needles etc I always find I push the paper though the back and it looks sloppy (if that makes sence). I might try one of Vicki's suggestions (already emailed to DH by way of a "hint"!).

I don't know how they will display them... at the time we met I don't think they knew either. But they liked the few cards I had and said they wanted some like that.

For some reason Melissa at the Goddess of Whimsy offered to make cards for my stuff herself so I haven't had to worry about this!!

I use a 1/16th inch hole punch I bought at Michaels in their scrapbooking section.

I use a 1/16" hole punch. It's perfect for earrings!

You're going to laugh, but I find a standard safety pin makes nice holes, just the right size for 22 gauge headpins I use for earwires. I print up a specific version of my biz cards in landscape and portrait and use those for the cards. On the back I print a 'materials' section and a note from me.

Don't forget to include those little rubber earstoppers to keep the earrings from sliding out. I like the clear ones 'cause customers usually appreciate having them to keep the earrings from falling out of their earrings, too.

I bought a paper punch that makes tiny circles at either Michael's or Wal-Mart. That's what I use. They also have ones that make hearts, stars etc. They have a handle- look just like a regular hole punch.

Awls and hammer-and-punch thingies are way, way too cumbersome. The above, available on eBay, various websites, and any store that sells scrapbooking stuff, is the way to go. Trust Sooz and Tink. ~~ Sooz To live a creative life, we must lose our fear of being wrong. ~~Joseph Chilton Pearce

Not to mention, the hand held punches are often less expensive! I prefer them when I'm scrapbooking, unless the hole needs to go too far in from the edge of the paper for the hand held punch to reach, then I use the others.

For my earring cards, I copied my logo three times on a business card template on one of the simple desktop publishing programs I have.

I use a small hole punch for hanging the card on my display, but for the earring holes, I use a T-pin and a rubber eraser. This way, the holes aren't too big, and the earrings don't fall out so easily.

I just went to a printer and had them run up 1000. They last me a year or so. The ones I used to have were black with my name, etc in purple. My new ones are gray with purple. Then I put in the holes with a T pin. The smaller holes are good for keeping the earrings in. If you have them done at a printer (maybe even Kinko's or someplace, I don't know what their prices are like tho.) you can choose a size you are comfortable with. Mine are longer than normal and I fold the top over so they will stand up a bit if you just lay them down. Or you can hang them over a wire, etc. If you shop around you can generally get it done fairly inexpensively.

I print my own on card stock (I like the kind with a faux parchment finish) and cut the card stock with a paper cutter (1 3/4 x 4 1/4). My logo is on the bottom half. I punch holes in them with a push pin, then fold them in half. That way they can hang or stand on their own.
