They're here! They're gorgeous! The depth on these things is just incredible. I think they're going to have to "marinate" in my mind for a while, since I want to make sure they go into something that does them justice.

They're "faux opal" dichroic glass beads made by our own Susan Burwash (aka Wired Woman Designs)[1]. They shimmer, they glint, they draw the eye in deeper and deeper, they're absolutely fabulous, and I've had my eye on several sets in recent months only to have the price go out of my range. This set I got!
We've been telling Susan that she needs to trademark the "Fauxpals" name before someone else beats her to it.
[1] It's not actually that they look so much like gemstone opal, as that they look like the metallic-chips-in-epoxy stuff that was sold as "opal" in costume jewelry some 30 years ago. I used to collect that variety of "opal", and these remind me of it, only they're *much* finer quality.Celine
Thanks everyone! You're making me blush!! I should have some new fauxpals up later this week. I've been away from the torch for a week after my show - just too tired between that and starting a new part-time job at a jewelry supply store. Talk about an addict in a police evidence room :-) -the owners new buys from Tucson, including Thai silver and Peruvian blue opal and amazing amethyst and 60 kg of Bali came in this week. Don't think I made any money working this week, but what great Stash Enhancement Exercise!!
