First Bead Picture With New Camera!

Well, it's not exactly the first picture... It's the first one I'm willing to show anyone. LOL! I can't believe how complicated these new-fangled cameras are!!!!! I've read the book with its scanty instructions over and over again. Seems the *real* book is provided on the CD that comes with it, and they expect you to actually be able to run Adobe Reader without it crashing your computer.

Anyway, the bead is a cool hollow that's another one of my Victorian Holly beads. I can't seem to stop making Yule beads. :-)

*beaming* Oh, just wait... Even Prairieson is blown away by what I've been able to coax from the torch lately. And it's really less coaxing than it is just hanging on for dear life while the Muse does her magic!

Does the picture look ok though? I was born without the "ability to detect image quality" gene, I swear. My ex could look at three slides that all looked exactly the same to me (when we were working on a book together) and go on and on for an hour about the differences and which one was best and why. *sigh*

I officially LOVE the new camera! OMG once a couple of the settings actually clicked in my brain, I could see at least part of what I was doing wrong. And it's a very fun camera to use. It comes with an infrared remote, so I can use aperture priority and let it keep the shutter open as long as it likes because I'm not having to actually touch the camera to take the picture.

Tink the bead is luscious. The photo is clear, but I think you could tweak the lighting to make it really shine!

Ohhh Tink, wow wow wow!!!!!! Will you be doing multiples of this? The second I saw it I saw a necklace for my Mom.

the lighting to make it really shine!<

I got so excited by the bead, I forgot to comment on the pic. I agree with Christy. Maybe try buming up the contrast a little. And I think it would present better with a leeetle more border.

Excellent suggestions, both of you! I'll tell you, I think picture taking will be MUCH less a chore now. This camera completely rocks!

I'm never sure if I'll duplicate something or not. That's a fun design, so I probably will. And I really like the color combo...

I'm still wrestling with my lighting a bit, but I'll get the kinks worked out.

Another thought. Not sure which graphics software you're using. I'm really fond of the Camedia Master program that came with the camera. Most of the time I nudge the contrast and brightness individually, but it has an "instant fix" option that gets the pix nearly perfect. They tend to go a bit too bright/washed out, so I go in and nudge the brightness down by about 5 points after the fact. It can still give you a helpful starting point.

Sometimes it reminds me of going to the eye doctor...does it look better this way or this way . LOL

So you like it then, eh? *grin*

I'm going to play with the Camedia software today, if I can wake up a bit. I was up until 6:30, then the puppy woke me up at 9. **yawn**

I'm totally blown away by this camera.

Thank you! I'm in serious love with this camera, even though I'm not close to having it figured out. It's an Olympus 5050. I read every review I could find. I talked to jewelry designers, photographers and others. I am convinced I made a very good choice. There are several plusses to this camera: Metal body, good lenses, will work on AA batteries in a pinch, it uses several memory formats and you can have two in the camera at once and switch between them. It comes with an IR remote so you can tripod the camera and release the shutter from a distance, eliminating any blurring from having to touch the camera itself. It has a normal macro mode, as well as a super macro mode. It will shoot in RAW format.

Lots of other benefits, too. I like it a lot...
