Fun and games on the ol' Beadwife homestead...

I may or may not have mentioned before that I was thinking of a cheap and easy self-maintaining mailing-list sort of arrangement for my webpage... well, I think we have it worked out! I had Mr. Moxleypants install PHPBB, which is forum software, and so now my website has its own forum, wheee! However, though I did create some areas for chatter and general time-wasting ;), the main purpose is so that people can now choose to "watch" the "New Beads" topic, and whenever I post to it they will receive an email of my post. NIFTY!

So... I need some testers. :) I would love to have some folks check it out, kick the tires and etc. for a week or so before I post the link on my homepage. People who won't be totally frustrated if it crashes and they have to register again, as so often seems to happen when setting these things up.

Volunteers may apply in person:

Your nominal reward will be getting email notification of my new beads before anyone else knows. It won't be for a couple of days yet, but you will be the FIRST to know! I do put them up in the middle of the night, though, so I am not sure how useful an email at 2 am will be to you. For that matter, RCBers are *always* the first to know... I always post here the instant I'm done posting new work. Still, it might be fun if nothing else!

Thank you in advance for wasting your time for me! ;p

I am signed up. I did have a problem posting on Blah blah. After I created my message and hit post nothing happened.

Kalera, I tried to post a picture without success. Big surprise, I can never get these things to work. Is it because my website is in Linux? Or, more probably, because I'm computer stupid... Patti

PHPBB is pretty cool! Neat idea... Barb

Oh, that's *wierd*! I will check it out.

With Moxley's help I think I figured it out... page links end in .htm, picture links end in .jpg (or .gif, or .bmp, or .psd, or..?). The link you were using is actually to the page the picture is on, so it couldn't display it. I changed it to .jpg and it worked. :)

Thank you, everyone, for giving it a spin! It looks like it's running OK, with just a few kinks to iron out.

Kalera, Thank you so much, I never would have figured it out, duh.... Patti

I love PHPBB! I think it's going to be a lot of fun. I don't imagine it will get a whole pile of traffic, but I did think I could use it to host auction pics for people who don't otherwise have a place to upload pictures. Well, once we get the picture hosting figured out!
