Help Identify Lampworker Name?

Aug 28, 2004 6 Replies

Hi All,

While at my lampworking class one of the classmates mentioned a lampworker that did amber like beads with insects. When she said his name it was a famous person's (something like Tom Jones)name but I cannot recall the name now.

Does this ring a bell for anyone?

Thanks a bunch! Wendy remove the ferret to email me

There's Jim Jones, but I don't know if he makes that kind of bead. Patti

That would be Tom Hanks (not the same person, just the same name). I think he lives in the hills of NC somewhere. I got to fondle one of his "ants in amber" beads when I took my first class with Kate Fowle (now Meleney), 8 years ago. I don't know if he's still making beads or not. I tried a Google search but the basic search returns too many of the OTHER Tom Hanks' hits and I'm stumped on how to winnow it out.

Our own Cheryl did some amber looking beads with bugs in them. They were really neat looking!

That's him! I'll look for some of his amber beads and if I ever spot any online I'll let everyone know. That's for the help.

vj found this in rec.crafts.beads, from "Karen_AZ" :
