Hi, No longer muzzled -- OT

Hi, I'm Vicki. I live in Oregon. I've been adicted since Camp Fire Girls (or whatever they are called now). (We had beads, not merit badges.) My first bead project was to design and loom my headband for my Camp Fire outfit. (I don't count sewing on my vest or dress the beads I earned.

I'm liberated! Outlook will finally let me post! I sent a respone yesterday, but couldn't stay online long enough to find out that it made it through so imagine my surprise to find it in a thread. Happy, happy me.

I tend to be a listener rather than a talker, but now I can talk with group when I have something to add. Yippee!!

Hiya Vicki! Camp Fire was the cause of some of my first pangs of Bead Lust....as a Girl Scout who went to CampFireGirl Camp, I didn't get the beads that were handed out at the end....and merit badges suck by comparison!!!

welcome to the group! Sarajane

I find that someone (often either you or Sooz) says what I thought I'd say anyway. But I'm not very bashful about expressing a strongly held opinion. Right now I guess I feel that I'm in the getting to know what to say stage. Have been around computers since heck was a pup, but have never used one to just chat - play and work yes. This feels like I may find it to be a lot of fun.

Thanks

This group is very addicting. They took me from puppy hood making jewelry and turned me into a fire breathing monster. Actually fire was in my blood before jewelry as I'm a firefighter.

That must make us within 5 yrs of each other cuz that's about when I was a Camp Fire Girl. Although we have a young pup (4-1/2 mo) and his energy makes me feel old as the hills.

Neat profession.

Short story: My boss and I were talking about jobs and I told him I'd like to be a firefighter. He laughed. Can't not pick up that glove, right? So I called the fire department then and there. They told me I'd have to be 5'7" tall and 140 lbs. I would have to grow 6" and weigh 50 pounds more. This time my boss and I laughed together, cuz it wasn't a female discrimination thing, just a short "discrimination" thing -- based of course on the fact that short people would probably not be capable of rescuing tall folks without dragging them. Had fun with that image.

I can vouch for the nice part! She offered me a ride and moral support when I had to have my MRI! I ended up not needing the ride, but I did take her up on the moral support. :)
