How do you plug a big bead hole?

Question

I remember a discussion about an item that helps a 'big hole bead' hang right...but I don't know what the item is called or where to find them.

(kudos to me for getting all the way through the question without tasteless puns or jokes)

I have worked on collecting cane beads with singleminded zeal over recent months and now I need to do something with them. As much as I would like to pour them together, sort them, buy more, sort them again and so forth.. it really is time to work. Some of these came as slices with holes as big as a button. (I was going to say dime, but not quite that big)

Yeah I know those can be called donuts but I'm calling them slices because if you use them as donuts the colors don't show.

so, plugs anyone?

Since polymer clay bakes at a much lower temperature than glass melts,  I'm wondering if you couldn't fill the hole with clay and bake it? Monique in TX

I'm going to answer this in a completely appropriate way (yep, who would have guessed?):

You string a sead bead in the middle of it. Works perfectly.

And, if the seed doesn't fit, then I put small, round beads on either side. They go into the hole as far as they can, and stabilize the bead.

depends on the size of the hole. I understood Jana to mean larger holes than could be done with seed beads. I'd try bicones or Job's Tears (yes, I do have some left).

Yeah, well, yeah.

I thought it was on this list that somebody posted about an adjustable something (my mind goes to those earplugs that mold to whatever size you need them to) that you could buy.
