I bit the bullet

I hate to order stuff I should be able to find locally, but I did it.

After hearing about Fireline I've been searching for over a week. Gone to all those outdoor stores, Walmart, etc. I gave up and finally ordered it from Bass Pro Shop.

Now if I can ever get the peyote stitch to work for me I'll be happy. Thanks Sooz and everyone for the information. I tried last night with Nymo (Sooz it's all I had) and I made a mess. I just put it down and walked away. Hopefully the Fireline will be better.

Now another question about Fireline. Has anyone used the 4LB?

That's the weight I use the most. I like it because it fits through a size

13 beading needle.

Thanks for answering. I wish I had known that when I ordered. Oh well...maybe when we go to TN we'll go to BPS and get some.

Now, I need beading needles and I can't find them here in Austin. Not the ones I need anyhow. Anyone know where I can get some online?

Did you get the Cabela's ripcord yet? You should have received it by now. waaaaa When and if you get it, it's 8lb, should give you an idea.

Yes Margie, we checked the mail today. Thank you so much and I'm sorry I didn't email you yet. I've been going crazy this week because I haven't taken my adderal, but it's by choice.

Oh that's alright, no worries, Starlia. I'm glad you received it, what do you think of it? The 4lb would probably be better for you if you're going to weave, right?

I love it so far. I'm not weaving a lot yet. However, the mermaid I made the other day is going to look good on this cord. :-)

I don't know what else I'll accent her with, but I'll post photos on my yahoo account for everyone to see.

I am pleased that this subject came up. I have tried to get it in UK but the only one I could find was 10lb. Is that too thick for going through a needle. Shirley

Shirley,

Margie & Sooz said that the size 6 is minimum for weaving. That's why I got

6# test.

Did I? Yikes, can't remember. I do know that the 8lb test fits very snuggly on a size 12 needle. I have to flatten the end of the wire to get it threaded.

Can't wait to see her. :=)

I've used the 4#. The only thing I'd suggest is that you don't use really long lengths of it. I just finished a double row RAW bracelet and it uses about 12'. What a bi*ch! Shorter lengths it's fine but ARGH! I find I can't get the tension I'd like with Fireline but it is strong and the final bracelet is very supple.

Good luck........

Using Vicki's suggestion, I squeezed it flat with pliers, and now it goes through my needle.
