PowerPro questions

Is PowerPro, the white braided thread, with a monofilament(?) center, the same as Softflex? If not, what is Softflex? I have used tigertail, is it similar to that?

I think I read in beadnotes that PowerPro can be found in bait shops. I have a spool of PowerPro that I bought from a bead store, and it took me a long time to like it (I could not for the life of me figure out how to cut it without shredding the end!), and I am still not *in love* with it (doesn't thread through any of my needles). I am, however, happy enough to use it if it's the cheapest option ;o) I just haven't heard a lot about it, so I am not sure if it's *acceptable* for jewelry being sold.

vj found this in rec.crafts.beads, from "Kyla" :

i use Fireline, but i think it's a lot like PowerPro. the best thing to cut it with is a pair of scissors - i think most people use Fiscar [children's] scissors. you can also use nail clippers. then you won't get the frayed ends.

once you don't have the frayed ends, use your blunt-nose pliers, and "squish" the end of the line to make it flat. it will go right through the needle that way. i use a size 15 needle for 4lb line. 10,

14, and 20lb line will go through a size 10 needle.

hope this helps!
