I'm hooked

I went to a lampwork demo yesterday, Just like when I first sat at a potter's wheel, I swear it felt like I'd done this in a past life. (if I believed in past lives, which I don't.)

Oooh - The alchemy of it all! torches, glass melting, turning, tapping, this color becomes that color and what will this do at that temp and, and, and.... I go to my first class Wednesday, my friends, but I think I am already hopelessly in love with the melting of glass. AND I heard the words mentioned in passing, "I think I am going to need to have an apprentice." Hey - I'll do all the gopher work for a chance to learn and learn some more!

Life just keeps being so *good!* in this particular season of mine and getting better every day. I'm not so unrealistic as to think it will always be so, but I surely am enjoying my brief stay at the top of the ferris wheel this time around!

I'd also like to be an apprentice. I think it would be a great way to learn.

Glad things are going so well for you Christy.

I know just what you mean. That's exactly how I felt when I picked up a tube and blew my first tiny bottle in a torch flame a few weeks ago. When I blew that first little item, without thinking about it I used a vertical position for blowing instead of the horizontal one I'd been taught in class, because somehow it seemed more natural and just "right". It turned out that it gave me better control and visibility of the expanding bubble so I was getting expert advice from somewhere! I don't believe in past lives either, though. Odd!

Wish I could draw on this thing, I would have drawn a grin of shared, you-know-what-I'm-talkin-about recognition.

Hey, Diana, you a closet Queen fan? I love Queen music, I wish I could have had a chance to see them on stage, live.

LOL .. not in the closet.. I am a fan. Not a huge fan mind you, but their Night at the Opera album is a classic. My fave song of theirs is Crazy Little Thing Called Love, cause it makes me want to get up and Boogie! But then I also like songs that make me feel sad... or make me think about life, or calm...I have eclectic tastes you could say. what about you? What do you look for in music? Diana
