Knotting Beads

I was wondering, for knotting beads is it silk that is used? And if it is, why is the silk that they sell about a metre of on the little cards so much more expensive than the silk I buy for sewing? Can I use the silk thread on a reel from the sewing shop? It seems logical as it's in loads more colours and it far more cheaper! Can someone clear this up for me?

Thank you!

Charlie.

Why it is more expensive on small cards is simple -- because they can! LOL. It is probably the same thread, but who really knows? Try it and see how it works, Charlie. And let us know. Then we will all know. I'm officially voting you "experimental silk thread person."

It's usually attached to a needle, too. Like all in one, not threaded as ordinary needles, so if the needle can pass through, then you can string the bead/pearl. With regular threaded needles (beading or wire), sometimes the needle alone will go through, but the doubled thread at the eye won't. Kaytee "Simplexities" on
