Movie About Beads!

Bummer... None of the hyperlinks are up yet. The website is set to open at the same time that the movie is released, which is the end of October.

Anyway, here's the info I have on the movie, as posted on beadcollector.net list by Judy:

"The Los Angeles Bead Society [sic] and Diana Friedberg, a South African film maker, have been busy producing a movie on beads, their role in culture and civilazation and also techniques of their manufacture. Diana has travelled all over the world filming, she has been to India, attended a ceremony held by the Naga people, travelled to Venice and Czechoslovakia, Africa, Germany, China and many other countries. She was invited by the second wife of the Zulu chief to attend a wife choosing ceremony where an obscene amount of beads were displayed. I have seen footage and it is INCREDIBLE. Diana has so much quality footage that she is making the movie in two parts each two hours long. The premiere is being held at LACMA, Los Angeles County Museum Of Art, on October 30th 2004. Unfortunately it is by invitation only as there are just 500 seats available. However a DVD will be available to purchase and a website is being established where this can be bought. I will post the address as soon as I know it. This is a first and very exciting."

The info was later amended with:

"Diana Friedberg began her career in South Africa but is now an American. Czechoslovakia is now the Czech republic. The movie is to be a five part series, the first part being 2 hours and the other three 1 hour each. The website where the movie will be available is called worldonastringmovie.com and it will up and running at the end of October."

I was unable to find a working website for The Bead Society, Los Angeles.
