Donna and I are home! Weeeeee! We had a blast, and it was great being able to hang out with Kathy (KDK) this past week. We learned a lot, and I have some surprises in store for those who follow my work. BIG surprises!
This week was the most fun I can remember having (without the Cowboy around) and I've already decided that I WILL go back next year no matter what!
Donna and I spent some private time with Milon Townsend, and talked to him about where my business is. He gave me some fabulous insight, and confirmed that my plan is do-able and will probably work out well for me, Donna, my current customers and potential customers. He was pretty impressed with what I've got going on.
I have some buyers that have literally told me they will buy whatever I can send them, vessel-wise. I've had to limit these folks to no more than five vessels at once, just so I have stuff for other customers. So what they do is order five, then order ten more groups of five to get the bunch they want. The ideal solution is at hand. YAY!
As for my BIG surprises... Well, suffice to say that I have a whole sketchbook of vessel designs that will be much more high-end than my current work. In the past, it's been difficult for me to justify working several days on one vessel, even if I think it's going to be way cool. I need/want to do my other vessels, too, so it's hard to risk all that time on something that may or may not sell. With the new plan in place, I should be able to continue to make what I want, when I want, including the WAY COOL designs that will take me up to a week each. I suspect those will be destined for galleries, if I'm lucky enough to catch their attention. The new work will be seriously groundbreaking, IF I am able to do it.
I know I'm babbling here, but I'm really excited! I've not been in the studio proper since I returned home, so I feel like a bottle of champagne that's been shaken and is ready to blow. LOL! John took this week off so we could hang out, so I don't really feel like I should bury myself in my work right now.
:-) I'm very, very excited about all this! And starting next Monday, I will be spending time in the hotshop every week. I guess I'll soon be living my dream of "eating, drinking, sleeping and breathing glass". LOL!
