My Assistant Rocks! - Very Bead Related!

So Donna brings over some of her beads yesterday. OMG. She is incredibly talented!!!!!!!!!!!! Not just from a creative standpoint, but her beads are, I SWEAR TO YOU, technically perfect. I've never seen finer encasing.

She's coming over tomorrow to kind of learn at my elbow about taking pics, setting up auctions, stuff like that. I'm hoping I can get a few pics of her stuff up today so that you guys can offer her some input and it will be here for her to read when she gets here. I figure RCB is the perfect place for her to get some feedback, since you guys are honest and (usually) pretty gentle ;-)

I've already resigned myself to the fact that once she is "discovered" I may, indeed, lose her. It will be sad, but not a surprise. She's really a "big glass" person... She does a lot of sand casting. Sooz, I suspect you would really like her wall plaques and such. We both have a burning desire to do architectural glass, and plan to work towards that end. Ultimately, I see us collaborating... Working together... And hiring someone to help US.

I've been meaning to ask when we'll get to meet her.

I like it. Who would have known, Tink? Sounds like you both were destined.

Sorry I'm so with the Universe right now that I see things like this in a new light. I kid you not. I hope I have time to tell my snowball rolling story soon and no it has nothing to do with snow. :=)

Tina -- I've "discovered " a few myself, in my time. It is a wonderful feeling. Enjoy it while it lasts. Personally, I got so excited when you said "technically perfect" that I had to remind myself to breathe. I can't wait to see her stuff. That is exactly how Mavis was when she started....

Donna's beads are perfection. And I'm really glad she doesn't read here, or she would likely be terribly flustered at reading that. I truly can't wait to share with you guys the wonderful work she does. And just so you know, she's not a beginner. I'm pretty sure she has been at this quite longer than I. She has studied with the 'greats' all over the country.

The two of you should get some great synergistic energy together. How exciting.

I just heard from Donna, and she's going to try to find RCB today. I wish you could all see her work in person. The most perfect encasing I have ever seen. And if you like plunged florals.... *sigh*. Her beads are meticulously shaped, too.

I am so lucky to have her to hang out with!!!

Tink, I can hardly wait to see her work.

Since you're interested in architectural glass, I will tell you of the two things I have always wanted to do but will probably never get around to: doorknobs (not cabinet knobs) and... architectural glass block. The kind that was popular in the 50's. But... *art glass* block. I can't figure out how to do it, quite. Almost. Tile that's then tack-fused onto a sandcast box?

I also have a stained glass artist I want to collaborate with to do arts-and-crafts entry doors with eight fused glass tiles in place of what would normally be small panes of bevelled glass. I've done a lot of tiles, I just want to kick it up a notch from the typical opaque-backed applications. If I could figure out how to do a mirror-backed art glass tile installation in a wet application, though, I'd be all over it. In the meantime, I want a freestanding outdoor shower built from art glass block...
